The train adds to the country feel. Irrigation ditch runs two days a week. The chickens are used to dogs. Site #1 is better for small vehicles and tent camping. It is more protected. Site #2 is better for large RVs and trailers. Site #3 is being developed, but does not have electricity yet.

Stan was great. The three spots have electric. We got in late and Stan was there to guide us to our spot. It’s not glamping however, If you want a cheap place to park and get off the Interstate then it’s perfect. Surprisingly quiet for how close he is to it. I gave it an OK but, that just what it is. I give it a GREAT as far as low budget and easy.

Stan was a great host and met us as we drove in. Was very helpful in getting us to our spot and helping us get hooked up to power and water. He provided some good info on the area and the history of the area. He also brought some more fire wood over to the site for us. Stan was very nice and helpful! Our kids enjoyed running down the dry canals next to the alfalfa field, chasing the chickens and exploring the property. We did not enjoy the prickers that were plentiful and painful for our little ones. The passing train horn at night took away from a peaceful night's sleep.

This site was awesome! Stan was very friendly and accommodating. We arrived late and he was there to greet us with a flashlight to show us our site and where we could find the available amenities. The site was perfect for the two of us and our dog. We woke up to the roosters every morning and enjoyed eggs from the hens that hung out around the site. A very pleasant stop, highly recommend!

This was our first experience with Hipcamp so we have a data point to compare.

We are EV campers and drive a 40 kwh Nissan Leaf. We wanted to test camping east of the Rockies. Stan provided a 30 amp 1.47 kwh hookup. The 120 mile trip from Boulder left the battery at just below 25%.

Stan was helpful with the hookup, and we used the standard leaf charging cord. Starting around 7pm we were able to get up to 85% by 8:30am in the morning.

We stopped at 85% because we wanted to charge with stations at the Walmart in Fort Morgan. It was 12 miles away.

The charging station mainly has CCS stations. It had one Chadmo station that we used. It was an Electrify America station, which we never used before. It was fairly cheap and I only needed to use my credit card to charge. No app download or signup. We were able to freely drive around the area and get a full charge for our trip home.

We really felt that Stan enjoys this gig-side hustle. He was very nice and helpful.

There were train noises mentioned in other comments. The train is several miles away and only passed a handful of times. We felt it really added to the ambiance.

The chickens and fresh eggs were a definite plus. The were fun to watch and feed.

The site is nice and remote you will hear the highway much like you do in a KOA. The sunrise comes straight off the horizon. From the site it is a great view. We live and camp from the foothills so this was a treat.

Stan built a quaint little outhouse. It has one of those seats with a bucket and bag attached below. It was a little awkward but better than nothing.

In the afternoon, there were a lot of flies. However, we visited several other places, including the reservoir, which all had flies. In the morning and evening we had no flies.

The price was $40 a night which seemed a little steep, but we needed the backup electricity just in case.

We really enjoyed it and look forward to returning.

We stayed for a night at Cottonwood Tree Camp. It’s a beautiful spot - we swam in a nearby reservoir and took walks along the nearby fields.
