COVID-19 NOTE: While campsites are spaced far apart, there is only one bathroom, so please practice safe hand washing/sanitizing, and please practice physical distancing.

Yosemite Garden Camp is on 10 acres of grassy meadows, pine and oak trees, and manzanita chaparral in the lower Sierra Nevada mountains, near the town of Groveland, outside Yosemite National Park.

The property includes a large vegetable garden and a small vineyard, and borders Federal Bureau of Land Management land. Most of the property has sweeping views across the Central Valley to the Coast Ranges to the west. Sunsets are breathtaking. Yosemite National Park, with endless hiking, backpacking, climbing and swimming, is about 1 hour away by car. Even closer is the Stanislaus National Forest and the Tuolumne River. The town of Groveland has some great bars, cafes and restaurants, and a good grocery store.

There is a bathroom shack in the middle of the property with a flush toilet, a sink, and a solar shower. The water is clean and drinkable. There is also a communal fire pit and a communal picnic table.

Tent Site 1 is a grassy spot under tall pine trees, about 50 feet from the parking area, close to all facilities. There are several other tent sites on the property, with varying degrees of privacy versus convenience to the bathroom, the fire pit, the communal picnic table and the parking area. Let me know what your priorities are and I can direct you to the best option.

Note that Yosemite Garden Camp is on a very rough dirt road, which gets worse every year and looks like a dry river bed in places, with exposed rock and deep ruts. A higher clearance vehicle is necessary and 4-wheel drive is ideal. Sedans often bottom out on this road and are not recommended. Please drive no faster than 5 mph when going past neighbors' homes.

LATE SUMMER NOTE: During California's peak fire season, the electric utility company (PG&E) sometimes shuts off power to the area to prevent sparks from causing wildfires, especially when the weather is hot and windy. When PG&E shuts off power, the well pump will not run and there is no running water in camp. This only happens a few days a year. I will notify campers when PG&E notifies me, so that campers can bring water for drinking, hand washing and toilet flushing.

Amazing campground. We absolutely loved our stay and the campsite is only a 45 minute drive from Yosemite’s park entrance. Campsite 1 was practically car camping as the site is only about 20 feet from the car. Bathroom was super clean and showers were awesome. We would love to come back in the summer to enjoy the hot tub. The road is very rocky so take it slow. A car with high clearance will have no problem.

This is a really nice space. The campsites are spread out & the grounds are well kept. We really enjoyed the site.
The road up is pretty rough, so definitely be prepared for that.

We enjoyed our 3 night stay at campsite 1. It was a lovely place. The 4 sites were spread apart enough to feel private. The bathrooms were maintained & clean. We didn’t have the pleasure of meeting Geoff but he was quick to respond to any and all of our questions. Don’t underestimate the unmaintained road & follow the written instructions. Will be back!

Stayed there one night. But had to cancel due to the wildfires. Hosted was understandable and gave me a refund for last day. I recommend camping here!

We had a wonderful time at this site. Beautiful sunsets, quiet, clean bathroom, and every camping amenity available. This is a hidden gem! But you definitely need 4 wheel drive to get up to the site... it's an adventure!

This was a lovely campsite. Great amenities (running water, a place to do dishes, a hot shower). We stayed at Campsite 1 and it was private and spacious. Campsite 2 has an incredible view. It took us about an hour and a half to get to Yosemite each day but it was worth it to make the trip in.

Geoff has a wonderful setup for campers to use - while a but of a trek to Yosemite Valley floor, it is a pleasant and scenic drive. The site is peaceful and a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of life. Beautiful sunsets and excellent stargazing!

Bathroom and shower facilities are better than anticipated and a perk for camping - especially when other HipCamp sites often don't include a bathroom let alone a shower! Two dish washing stations and the four tent sites are spread out nicely, with room to park all cars. Highly recommend and would stay again! Thank you Geoff!!
