The Lookout, The Wheelhouse, The Tugboat, the Tower of Power, the Poop Deck: everyone wants to call this place something silly and unique, but one thing is for sure, this place is a glorious place to sleep.

Built on a large platform creating shade for our solar-power-generating shipping container, Hipcampers walk up a flight of stairs to enjoy 360 views of much of the farm's infrastructure as well as the undeveloped woods. All of the materials this cabin is built from tell a delightful story of creativity and ecological sustainability. This place screams off-grid.

Windows are removed during the summer half of the year, and wall panels fold out of the way to maximize airflow and still guarantee privacy. There is even a small electrical outlet so campers can charge their devices or enjoy a little nighttime reading. There is a super comfortable full sized bed, and additional campers should bring a tent or tarp to sleep on, and bedding to spread out on the flat area just below the platform.

Folks have access to our outdoor shower and composting toilet that are located in a main part of the farm.

We ask campers to please avoid hanging out by the solar panels the cabin looks out onto, as they are fragile and important, and the location is not protected from falls.

Matt and Eve were the loveliest of hosts. Some pretty intense rain was in the forecast during our stay and they offered to upgrade us to a tiny cabin with more coverage, and a wood burning stove! The views of the farm were incredible through the whole wall window, and the stove kept us nice and cozy all night long. Can't wait to go back and do it all again!

Staying at the lookout was amazing. Simply put, the room was so cozy and location was perfect for a weekend get away. Yosemite is an hour and a half away, but the accommodations of Matt make me not want to stay anywhere else if I’m visiting the park. You truly get an insight of actual sustainability and what it takes to live that way. The host Matt was incredible to talk to, he gave great insight to his life and gives you a new perspective on farming. The animals were super pleasant to be around. I personally am not a light sleeper, but if you are use the earplugs the host provide as the guard dogs are protecting the animals with lots of barking. No complaints here, I will definitely be coming back.

The Lookout is like being up in a treehouse - so cool! The view is great, the room nicely appointed, and the bed was very comfortable, though I do recommend bringing good ear plugs as the working dogs make some noise while protecting the sheep and goats through the night. Matt and Eve are the most gracious, welcoming hosts. It's really a neat experience to see a working farm in action! I highly recommend a stay at Wondernut!

The loo with a view. I failed to find out the cat's name.

The hosts seemed nice. Pictures very misleading. Run down farm- Rubbish discarded everywhere. Everything in the lookout was covered in dust. Showers 2 feet from a huge pile of manure. Didn’t even stay the night.

We had a great weekend staying in the lookout. The bed was extremely comfortable with plenty of blankets for the cold night and they had cots for our children to sleep on with their sleeping bags.
The kitchen is well equipped with all the pots/pans/crockery/spices you need.
The best part for us was that Debbie took our girls to explore the farm on many occasions, they loved her and did not want to leave!

It’s such a pity that I don’t have much time to explore more in this wonderful stay.
