✌🏻Welcome to WIND WALKER RANCH 🏜

⛺️ Relax hard or Party hard the choice is yours. No one around for miles so you can enjoy the peace and quiet or be as loud as you want.

💨 The wind is not as big of an issue as one would think being next to a wind farm. It's mostly calm and magnificent. But it does have its days where the wind can be very powerful.

🚨 ALWAYS CHECK THE 10 DAY FORECAST 🚨

We suggest not booking if winds exceed 20mph for camping. If you have an RV or Van (Please let us know if you have an RV/Trailer - there’s a minor route change to the property) you will be good.

We also suggest not booking if there is any type of wind advisory unless you like it breezy. (wind/temp data at bottom of page)

📱T-Mobile does not work out here.

🧘🏼‍♀️ Inhale the breathtaking views of these giant wind harvesters during sunset when the sky BBC turns pinkish-purple against the multi-colored hills. This is why we bought this property.

🏜 We want to keep the land as natural as possible for all to enjoy. Feel free to set up camp anywhere on the property, we’d love to see where campers naturally gravitate. We've also cleared out two spots near some Joshua Trees (do not harm the trees). Only park in the designated parking spots for walk in camping at the edge of the property (Sign Posted). If you have a van please stay on the edge of the property as much as you can. Please use common sense and don't destroy the landscape. We will be creating a road around the perimeter soon.

⛺️ Pitch your tent in any open space or snuggle up next to a grove of Joshua tress (spots cleared). We have 2.5 acres (marked) and hundreds of vacant acreage surrounding us. There’s nothing but desert land, Joshua Trees, mountain views and our absolute favorite thing about the property, the giant wind turbines.

💥 They are truly an engineering marvel and something to be witnessed up close. They are literally only a 1000 feet from the property. But dont worry they are not loud or scary. They actually have a peaceful humming sound when they are moving.

🌬 The Tehachapi Pass wind farm is the largest wind farm in the U.S., with around 710 megawatts produced by about 4700 wind turbines.

What an awesome campsite! We got to the ranch well after dark after booking very late but the combination of helpful directions and tiki lights guiding our way made for a seamless arrival. The Joshua trees and wind turbines make for such a cool and unique landscape - 9 year old Fergus was mind blown when he woke up and saw where he was!

For us adults, a night around the fire, a sky full of stars and the peaceful sound of the wind farm made for the best night we’ve had camping in a very long time.

Atlas was super helpful and the camp was beautifully set up. I’d highly recommend this wonderfully unique camping experience! Well done Atlas and team 👏

Alice & Family, Y'all made my day with your review. I'm super happy that Fergus loved the turbines and the Joshua trees, they are truly a unique combo. I hope the rest of your trip was amazing and we hope to see you back at the ranch soon. Much love & respect, Atlas 🌎

Camping with wind turbins

This is very unique experience to camp out in the middle of the wind farm! Its not noisy, the sound of turbins actually quite relaxing, and I am very sensitive to sounds. This was interesting stay. Please before you go make sure you enter coordinates into your GPS or phone. Roads are unmarked, two last ones are unpaved but very easy to drive with reg car, but you won't find this place by names of the roads (use coordinates) or follow directions of the host to the T. When you arrive (and its not far from I-40) you will not regret to do this experience.

Yay! We're so glad you had such a unique experience. The humming of the turbine propellers will rock you to sleep. It's even cooler because there is 1000s of them which sounds different together than only one turbine. We took your feedback to heart and made the necessary changes so others can easily find the ranch at night. There are now lights from the road to the ranch. Thank you again for staying with us. We appreciate you sharing your time and your energy at the ranch. :)

What a wonderful and secluded spot surrounded by windmills. This is definitely one of the best spots I've camped at. For anyone wanting to stay here- please, for the love of god, check if there are wind advisories for the area. The wind was so incredibly strong when I stayed here. Miraculously my tent remained staked in the ground through the night!! I would highly recommended using the longer and heavier duty tent stakes just to assure stability, if there is any wind that is. Anyways, I did make the best of this scenic spot and I have zero complaints. I would highly recommend to others and will be returning. Thank you again Atlas for the detailed directions, prompt communication and exciting stay!!

Thanks for staying with us Justin, we really appreciate it. And yes, please always check the weather. If winds exceed 20mph we suggest booking another time and if there is any sort of wind advisory we dont recommend it at all. Unless you have a Van or RV. Amazing photos and hope to see you soon.

The views were incredible there! It feels off the grid yet you are surrounded by these massive wind turbines harnessing the natural energy of the wind. We had a blast and this place is perfect for a trip with friends or a solo adventure. Will definitely be booking again in the future!

Welcome to the Wind Tribe. We love walking or sometime "flying" with the wind. Super stoked you had a great time and really enjoyed the turbines. They're our favorite. Come back soon. The turbines aren't going anywhere.

This property is truly unique. I camp in a lot of places but can’t say I’ve ever camped next to a wind farm. Seeing the massive turbines up close was pretty bad A$$.

The wind was nothing out of the ordinary. The land is raw and natural. There really is no one or around for miles. We got to hike around the open desert and even made it to the nearby hills. Cool vantage point of the entire farm.

All in all, this place is a must visit. Greet camping spot with amazing views.

This was a last minute find for our group and we absolutely loved it. We wanted a space away from everyone and everything in LA. Let’s just say the only things that were around us were those giant wind turbines as they are cool AF!

We had a group of 10 friends and we all had plenty of space for our 5 tents. There was two designated spots so we pitched the rest of our tents throughout the property. The land looks like it’s just getting started for camping but I’m excited because the potential is endless.

The sunset was to die for and it’s a mist see. Campaniles were lit up and the land was easy to find. We were also very loud and had a blast.

Oh and one last thing, the wind was none existent for sunset and at night. There was a light breeze after sunrise but that was it. This property is a solid find and a must visit!

Response from Atlas, the Host, on April 14th, 2022

Ahh yes, the magical turbine filled sunsets with pink and purple hues. So glad you got to experience them. It's why we bought this land. Please come back soon. :)
