Please read the description of the site before you book it! Every site is different.

Parking Warning for Winter!!!

Although we have paved all the road by now and driving is very easy, if you vehicle is not 4 wheel drive be very careful when parking on the unpaved dirt area when it’s wet, especially the flat area which doesn’t drain well, your vehicle may get stuck, avoid the area which is muddy! Try to park close to the paved road. We will be putting more gravels in the coming weeks so it is safe to park on the area with gravel.

This camp site allows max 5 people and 1 vehicle. No loud music allowed any time. Quiet time 9p - 9a. Our onsite staff will go around and enforce the rules. Feel free to message/text the host at any time to report violations of rules at any campsites.

The vehicle traffic damages the road and it is very expensive to do road works. Also increased traffic causes disturbances to the residents and neighborhood so we have to strictly limit the number of vehicles. In case you need one more car contact host for approval with parking fee of $15/day for one extra car.

Trailers!!

Only site 8, 12 and 5 are good for large trailers. No trailers can get to Site 7, 9 and 11. Other sites may be ok with small trailers.

Welcome to the Enchanted Forest Retreat! We are a meditation retreat center with 45 acres of some of the most gorgeous redwoods in the Santa Cruz mountains to enjoy hiking, creeks and small water fall exploration, mountain biking, wildlife viewing, star gazing, relaxation, meditation and more.

Our campground has running water from a natural spring, Men and Women's Restrooms each with 2 toilets and 1 hot water shower and plugs for charging phones, laundry shed with sink and hot water, one BBQ grill by the fence up above the creek (the kitchen is Staff Only not for campers), and an outdoor amphitheater. We have meditation teaching at the amphitheater and campers are welcomed to attend for free.

25 minutes to Silicon Valley - 25 minutes to Santa Cruz Boardwalk we're centrally located in the south bay. Dogs and kids are welcome - dogs must be picked up after and kept on a leash if other campers are present.

Please note:  This is camping - there may be bugs, critters, dirt, unpredictable weather (pack for the cold, just in case - we get surprise fog often!), early sunrise, no cell data, etc etc. It's not the Hilton - but it is gorgeous. ;)

NOTICE REGARDING RVs and TRAILERS:  While we can not offer hookups, theoretically we have no problem with RVs, the road is steep in a couple of places getting down to the campground and VERY narrow in one spot (10ft). If you feel you're willing to take this risk (we won't be held liable), you're welcome to reach out to us and we can see if the site good for RV/trailers is possible.

The campsites are numbered by "age" not by location.

Site #1 - Well shaded. Distant from other sites. Limit 1 car. Has 1 picnic table.

Site #2 - Well shaded. The most private of our sites. Limit 1 car. Has 1 picnic table.

Site #3 - Well shaded, 2-level terraced site. Fairly private but close to Site #4, if you are a group looking to be nearer to one another. Limit 1 car. Has 1 picnic table.

Site #4 - Well shaded, 2-level terraced site. Fairly private but close to Site #3, if you are a group looking to be nearer to one another. Limit 1 car. Has 1 picnic table.

Site #5 - Very open, sunny and scrubby site. Some shade in the morning as the early sun is rising and then very sunny the remainder of the day. Limit 1 car. Could be private or grouped with Sites 3 & 4. Has 1 picnic table.

Site #6 - A 2-level, mostly shaded site hidden amongst the trees, not far from 5 but feels very private. Limit 1 car. Has 1 picnic table.

Site #7 - Well shaded and away from the paved the road, it is hiding in the way back of a red small hut. Park on the left side of the hut and go back. When it is wet park by the paved road, do NOT park by the hut. Limit 1 car. Has 1 picnic table.

Site #10 - Away from all the other campsites, private but quite some distance from the bathroom, about 10 min walk, not good if you have small kids to take to bathroom at night, make sure you are ok with the distance to the bathroom before you book. Drive down the paved road and there is a narrow dirt road on the right hand side before reaching Site 1, turn right on the dirt road, hidden behind the trees at the end there is a pretty big open area with a RV (occupied) there, site 10 is before the RV on the left side, walking down a small path, at an corner with good shade and picnic table. You can pitch your tent in other flat area too if you want.  Limit 1 car. Has 1 picnic table.

Site #11 - Well shaded and pretty private and large, but have to park by the road and walk down a stair and the path down is kind of deep although short, not good for small kids and old people. Limit 1 car. Has 1 picnic table.

Site #12 - Has some shade right by the fairy ring of redwood trees, pretty open and near the large group site. It is on the opposite side of the ring from site 8 so can be grouped with site 8. Limit 1 car. Has 1 picnic table

Site #13 - Well shaded and very private, away from all the other campsites, but the furthest away from the bathroom, about 10 min walk, not good if you have small kids to take to the bathroom at night, make sure you are ok with the distance to the bathroom before you book. Drive down the paved road it is the first campsite, shortly after passing the gate to the campground by a giant redwood tree, it is on your right hand side.

SPECIAL COVID RULES TICK SEASON WARNINGS:

1) MAX 3 HOUSEHOLDS - Due to the current covid restrictions, it's been necessary to restrict use further to maintain compliance and safety to stay open.  The group site is large enough that it can accommodate 2 or 3 max households but if you'll be camping with friends or family from outside your "bubble", please respect mask/social distancing guidelines when mingling.  We realize these are not ideal conditions but better than no camping, right? =}

2) NO OPEN FIRES - The nearby recent fires have left everyone very sensitive to fire risk so no, we're sorry but fires will still not be allowed under any conditions.  Your propane or coleman style camp stoves are ok for cooking.  Please bring nothing that requires coals/wood, etc.

3) TICK SEASON WARNING: The Santa Cruz mountains are tick territory and depending on the time of year ticks are easy to pick up so doing a tick check at the end of the day is highly recommended.  If this is a concern, please use tick repellent and look to the county HSA for more information.

Now that that's handled - Welcome to the Enchanted Forest Retreat!

Shopping such as Safeway, Costco and the big box stores are 20 minutes away in Soquel; however, we have a charming little market (Summit Center) 3.5 miles away that has a great selection of groceries, drinks and hot foods, etc.

While we are not strictly ADA compliant, the facilities should be able to host most. Please feel free to reach out with any questions and we'll help however we can!

Enchanted Forest is definitely off the grid if you need to unplug! Road a lil rough getting there but worth it. Peaceful, a great hike down to a little creek, starry nights awesome. The one hot shower is great but bathroom could use a deep clean.

Nice campsite in the middle of the redwoods. We spent 2 nights there and really enjoyed the area. Really quiet at night. After reading previous reviews, I was a bit concerned with group campsites. We got lucky people were respectful.

We had just a one day stay at The Enchanted Forest, Site 12 and it was such a great experience. We had a wonderful night under the stars, in a private site that is close enough to the others to not feel completely isolated but also you can set up out of site. Bathrooms are a short walk up the hill, they were stalked, clean and the shower hot. You are tucked up next to a cluster of redwoods, one hallowed out by fire, making a large tree den, with approx a 12x12 completely level and flat area under the canopy, overlooking the tree line and hillside below. Very Cool! Site 12 might not be the best spot for cars without AWD or 4WD currently, as the ground to enter the site is steep and soft and can be easy to lose traction. It also isn’t the clearest where site 8 ends and 12 begins so I could see how it could feel less private is site 8 set up near the hills edge. Definitely a great spot to combine for a larger group. Will be back with more friends!

Big fan of Site 12.Great little private nook at site 12. Flat and level with a canopy above you!Morning walks to water, showers, and restrooms. Site 12

The campsite was beautiful. I loved the tiered set up that offered multiple places to set up my tent. The site was nestles right into the trees and loved waking up with the redwoods above me. The amenities were nice and as described. I'll definitely be back.

Campsite was very beautiful. The instructions on how to get there was a bit confusing and they need to place clearer signs and they need to make campsite numbers more visible. I highly advise not to drive in the night.
