Please check out the latest addition to our retreat center, the Enchanted Forest Glamping Tent!

This Group site has a sign with an infinity symbol ∞, you drive past the bathroom and group site is on your right side. It is NOT site #1 which is a much smaller site

Parking Warning for Winter!!!

Although we have paved all the road by now and driving is very easy, if you vehicle is not 4 wheel drive be very careful when parking on the unpaved dirt area when it’s wet, especially the flat area which doesn’t drain well, your vehicle may get stuck, avoid the area which is muddy! Try to park close to the paved road. We will be putting more gravels in the coming weeks so it is safe to park on the area with gravel.

This group site allows max 12 people and 3 vehicles. No loud music allowed any time. Quiet time 9p - 9a. Our onsite staff will go around and enforce the rules. Feel free to message/text the host at any time to report violations of rules at any campsites.

This site is ok for trailers/RV.

The vehicle traffic damages the road and it is very expensive to do road works. Also increased traffic causes disturbances to the residents and neighborhood so we have to strictly limit the number of vehicles. In case you need one more car contact host for approval with parking fee of $15/day for one extra car.

SPECIAL COVID RULES TICK SEASON WARNINGS:

1) MAX 3 HOUSEHOLDS - Due to the current covid restrictions, it's been necessary to restrict use further to maintain compliance and safety to stay open.  The group site is large enough that it can accommodate 2 or 3 max households but if you'll be camping with friends or family from outside your "bubble", please respect mask/social distancing guidelines when mingling.  We realize these are not ideal conditions but better than no camping, right? =}

2) NO OPEN FIRES - The nearby recent fires have left everyone very sensitive to fire risk so no, we're sorry but fires will still not be allowed under any conditions.  Your propane or coleman style camp stoves are ok for cooking.  Please bring nothing that requires coals/wood, etc.

3) TICK SEASON WARNING: The Santa Cruz mountains are tick territory and depending on the time of year ticks are easy to pick up so doing a tick check at the end of the day is highly recommended.  If this is a concern, please use tick repellent and look to the county HSA for more information.

Now that that's handled - Welcome to the Enchanted Forest Retreat!

We are a meditation retreat center with 45 acres of some of the most gorgeous redwoods in the Santa Cruz mountains to enjoy hiking, creeks and small water fall exploration, mountain biking, wildlife viewing, star gazing, relaxation, meditation and more.

Our campground has running water from a natural spring, Men and Women's Restrooms each with 2 toilets and 1 hot water shower and plugs for charging phones, laundry shed with sink and hot water, one BBQ grill by the fence up above the creek (the kitchen is Staff Only not for campers), and an outdoor amphitheater. We have meditation teaching at the amphitheater and campers are welcomed to attend for free.

25 minutes to Silicon Valley - 25 minutes to Santa Cruz Boardwalk we're centrally located in the south bay. Dogs and kids are welcome - dogs must be picked up after and kept on a leash if other campers are present.

Please note:  This is camping - there may be bugs, critters, dirt, unpredictable weather (pack for the cold, just in case - we get surprise fog often!), early sunrise, no cell data, etc etc. It's not the Hilton - but it is gorgeous. ;)

Shopping such as Safeway, Costco and the big box stores are 20 minutes away in Soquel; however, we have a charming little market (Summit Center) 3.5 miles away that has a great selection of groceries, drinks and hot foods, etc.

There are 6 (4-5 person) sites available in a separate listing plus this group site (up to 12 people). Please contact us if you're interested in renting for any events.

While we are not strictly ADA compliant but the facilities should be able to host most. Please feel free to reach out with any questions and we'll help however we can!

NOTICE REGARDING RVs and TRAILERS:  While we can not offer hookups, theoretically we have no problem with RVs, the road is steep in a couple of places getting down to the campground and VERY narrow in one spot (10ft).  If you feel you're willing to take this risk (we won't be held liable), you're welcome to reach out to us and we can see what is possible.

Group Site -  Please limit to 3 cars.  Has 1 large picnic table.

Gorgeous, peaceful, unique place. A friend I took with me said she wants to come back, and so do I! The host, Jessica, is very accommodating and amenable - something that is important to me when booking. She is also responsive on text, and her campground has every modern amenity - including clean bathrooms with flushing toilets and showers! The vista of trees and skyline from our vantage point in the Group Site was breathtaking. I also appreciated Christina, who manages the site, as she gave us so much useful information. I will definitely be coming back with my family.

Good space with a cool mini amphitheater right next to the group site. There weren't many trees to pop our tents under but the surrounding redwoods did enough to block the sun for the bulk of the day. Tents might get overheated on those rare hot days. The main issue was a huge wasp nest that was literally right next to the site. My son got stung while standing at the table pouring himself some water - none of the kids ever bothered or disturbed the wasps - the wasps were just out for our food as soon as the sun came out to warm them. The other issue was there was a glamping tent right behind the group site which required the glampers to drive directly through our group site.
There is also a nice hike to a creek on property. And clean bathrooms are a quick 1 minute walk up a hill.

This is indeed an enchanted forest. Stunning and gorgeous. The group retreat site is a little hard to find and maps were not available in the restrooms as promised. The property is gorgeous. If you have several tents then I recommend the group site but if not, choose one of their other sites as they are more affordable and enclosed by trees. You can’t go wrong with this host though.

The land was beautiful, but half the campsites seemed to have some sketchy residents (the ones who weren’t sketchy seemed to just be screaming children), it was in an air traffic area, and we were woken up at midnight, told that we needed to move spots because “we were in the wrong Site 1”, despite a complete lack of adequate signage. When the HipCamp host was called by a staff member, she was lacking in empathy and understanding, and she didn’t take any personal responsibility for what was apparently a somewhat common issue (the Site 1 mixup). The issue was technically our bad in that we should have driven all the way into the property to see IF there was another Site 1 despite finding what we thought was our site 1 already, but luckily the camper who was put out by our mistake was a totally good guy about it and was understanding. All in all, we 100% would not return.

We particular put in the top of description and direction that "Group site has a sign with an infinity symbol ∞, you drive past the bathroom and group site is on your right side. It is NOT site #1 which is a much smaller site." We can't control the number 1, it's assigned by Airbnb automatically, otherwise we will give group site a different number. These two are two different listings, each listing start with #1. We have hosted hundreds of guests in the group site, such mistake only happened 4-5 times. This happened when the guest group is small, because a big group will find the small site too small for them, the guest somehow didn't read the description and direction or forgot about it, it's also possible small group guest might like small site 1 better because it's closer to bathroom and has more shade.

We rented the group site and arrived just after dark, another friend had arrived earlier. We set up our tent on a flat area by a tree and enjoyed the evening. At around 3:30 am we were startled awake by three motorcycles pulling in to the group site literally a foot or two from our tent. Not knowing what was going on we laid still as flashlights, footsteps, and people tramping around our tent went on for around twenty minutes, we were wide awake and couldn’t go back to sleep. In the morning there were the motorcycles parked in the group site right near our tent, their owners were staying in a white cloth pre-set tent down below. There appeared to be nowhere for them to park other than the group site, the camp ‘attendant’ said they hadn’t yet figured out where the renters of this new tent room would park (she was very nice and apologized). It is absurd to rent out the group site for $200 a night and then let nearby tent renters arrive at 3:30 am and they pull up in motorcycles and park next to our tent scaring us and waking us from a deep sleep. We left early, didn’t stay the second night and wouldn’t recommend this place.

The trees are really something! I loved the site I stayed at bc the trees created a little space for my car camper- so special!

Overall, the site was clean and well kempt- I would say the biggest downfall is that the gulley makes it so sound travels quite a bit and you can hear everyone else! But really, the trees are awesome.
