Sky Fire Ranch is a 5 acre parcel of land located on the last frontier of the Californian wild west in a place called, "Wonder Valley." We're less than a 10-minute drive from the Oasis (or the East Entrance) into Joshua Tree National Park, and are surrounded on all sides by wilderness areas such as the Sheephole Valley, Cleghorn Wilderness, and of course... Joshua Tree National Park. In fact, you can access the park on foot from Sky Fire Ranch. Yes, you can hike into the park from the ranch -that is how close we are! Pictures do not do Sky Fire Ranch justice, so come and see for yourself the 360 degree views of desert landscapes, off the charts sunrises and sunsets, and of course the world class star gazing nights. You would be hard pressed to find a better spot to view the Milky Way in all So Cal... Projects, improvements, art, and additional listings are always in progress! Perfect: Part II
From co-camper, David: Best intentions: reserving a camp site at JTNP for multiple days after driving from Seattle, WA with two dogs. Best decision: Cancelling those reservations in favor of staying at Sky Ranch Campgrounds! Mac is salt-of-the-earth accommodating, friendly, helpful, and excellent host. Sky Ranch Campgrounds is equally part of any sweet journey and a fabulous destination. Can’t wait to see again post planned improvements. Thank you Mac!

Perfect
Our stay was at Mac’s was nothing short of wonderful. We planned to stay 3 nights, ended up staying four, and would have stayed longer had our vacation not come to an end. The space: It is beautiful, situated near a flourishing oasis, with room to roam, or just sit peacefully under blue skies and/or starry nights. The unobstructed mountain views and the sunrises and sunsets were breathtaking. We camped while our friend took advantage of the twin bed atop the pontoon boat (and LOVED it). It is close enough to town & an entrance to the park, but also far enough away from the crazy of a popular NP. The host: Mac is an especially gracious, welcoming and accommodating host. He made sure we had what we needed, took the time to show us around, share his story, and his vision and plans for enhancing/improving his property and campers’ experience (though in our minds, it is perfect, as is!). Our intention was to camp in the park. It took less than 30 seconds upon arriving at Mac’s to realize our decision to not camp in the park was the best decision we could have made. This was 100% confirmed as we drove past the cramped and crowded campgrounds within the park. Thanks so much, Mac. Our stay was the highlight of our two-week roadtrip.

Cool tent, terrible bed
Bed was so bad we had to sleep at the opposite end and still dips in bed were extremely uncomfortable. We were looking for a comfortable, remote place to sleep after coming out of the woods for 5 days. This was not it. The tent itself was cool but extremely loud with the harsh desert winds made it impossible to sleep and we had to grab our own sleeping gear because it was freezing cold. Also be aware that the porta potty was super far away from the tent to walk in the middle of the night.

The Saharan
Absolutely loved camping at the Saharan. The host was very helpful throughout our stay, with whatever we needed. The location itself is everything you could ask for, spwcially for stargazing and astrophotography. Would definitely love to go again in the future.
