Our campsites are on unceded Kumeyaay territory, in an almost untouched chaparral landscape with oak trees, white sage and California buckwheat growing abundantly. Just down the road is where the Buffalo Soldiers were originally housed.

We have 5 sites total, each of which has its own hipcamp listing. Each site is located away from another and each has its own unique microbiome. This site is off its own trail, which other campers will not have access to. We do allow multiple camping groups on the land at a time, but at 120 acres, there is plenty of space and trails such that everyone has their privacy and distance.

There is soft riverwash to set up your tent on, a large oak tree with a picnic table for shade while making meals and an abundance of sagebrush and buckwheat surrounding you for privacy. The site is versatile however, so you can set up in different ways depending on if you want lots of shade or to stargaze.  The trail is easily accessible by car, but because of the soft nature of the ground we do recommend you have 4 wheel drive or all wheel drive. If you don't, the trail is solid at the beginning so you can park your car and walk into the main area of the site , which is approx 50 feet away.

This site can comfortably host a maximum of 6 people, with a maximum of 5 tents and 3 vehicles. Please note: While this is the maximum we recommend everyone carpool if they can to help the environment and reduce the number of vehicles on the land.

We have about 10 spigots throughout the entrance of the property, and you are more than welcome to fill your water jugs/bottles here for your use during your stay. The cold, delicious water comes straight from our well.

As of today 02/12/2021 we are allowing fires, as we have had some good rain and snow. Please let us know upon booking if you intend to have a fire and we will leave a bucket of water by the fire pit and provide fire extinguishers. Propane cooking is always allowed.

On the land there is a mountain and an oak forest for hiking/exploring, we simply ask that you do not harvest/wildcraft any of the white sage on the property, as it is an endangered medicine sacred to the Indigenous peoples of California. On the way to the mountain you will see a silver water tower, there is a spigot at the base of this with fresh water for your use while hiking/exploring. Please also note that because 90% of the property is untouched there are wild animals, such as quail, snakes, coyotes, hares and lizards. We have printed animal and plant identification lists for your use while you camp.

The land is not only a campground but also a growing family farm; We have chickens, pigs, dogs and there are peacocks who roam the property. You can follow us on instagram @paraisopavoreal to check out what we're up to.

We are 7 miles south of Lake Morena and two miles north of the Pacific Crest Trail Southern Terminus.

Lake Morena features boating and fishing, parking is $3. Fishing/Boating fees are posted on their website along with the fishing report for the season.

The Pacific Crest Trail is a 2600 mile trail from the southern border to the northern border. The portion near us features beautiful hikes. More information can be found on the Pacific crest Trail Association website.

It was a perfect little spot to camp out for the night. Beautiful clear night, a little chilly with some wind at night, but it was pretty quiet and a nice way to recharge in nature.

I really wanted to stargaze for my solar return, and paraíso pavo real made it happen. We saw a couple of shooting stars, it was an amazing view. Caterra, grandma and other were super friendly guided us to the site.
FYI, you’ll encounter BP on the premise.

I would come back again !!!!! Caterra land was absolutely beautiful and very helpful with her grandmother Jessie . Our 3 year old son loved exploring and checking out the animals . Enjoyed the night sky and hearing some majestic peacocks . We did make some notes for next time and that is the red ants but that’s no biggie . July9-11 was good just hot 97 max and was able to fish at lake Moreno .

We really enjoyed our time on the Paraiso Pavo property. We staying on Site #1 and were under a beautiful oak tree. It was great! Added bonus is there were off roading washes we were able to toot around on during the day b/c it was too hot to hike.

Thanks for the great stay!

We wanted private, remote, and open and we truly got it! The site feels like you are very far away from anyone. There were multiple places one can stand and do a 360 view and not see another structure, so we really felt like we were primitive camping, which is what we were looking for.

This site is worth the view of the sunset all by itself. One can sit on the dirt path and look directly west and catch a totally unobstructed view of the sun going down over the mountains. The site is great with the largest oak tree around, and so plenty of shade. Even at 90 degrees in the heat of the day, it wasn't too bad in the shade just hanging out. The picnic table is an awesome bonus.

Lots of areas to walk around and plenty to see with the natural vegetation.

Only concern for us with dogs were the fire ants; you can avoid the ant piles, but there are still a few on the dirt road, so be cautious when walking around. The bites are more than painful and itchy, they can be very serious if your dog has an allergic reaction, so I would suggest packing Benadryl and bug spray for sure.

Caterra was a great host, quick and responsive and helpful, and guided us right in, as the directions are a little tricky, but not with her helping us get right to the sight.

Amazing Hosts!! Our trip was awesome the host’s went above and beyond for us. We accidentally forgot aspirin for my husband and instead of letting us got to the store and potentially get lost in the dark they went for us! ( It was so helpful! ) We went camping with our two little boys which was a bit nerve racking because there are a lot of dangerous snakes. My two year old wanted to run into every bush. My husband and I kept saying how awesome it would have been if it was just us, because you do have to be aware, but we were able to see all the animals they had and the Grandmother provided us with food to feed them it was great. : )

Hosts were friendly & went out of their way to show my daughter their animals. It appeared all the animals are rescues & well cared for.

Our campsite (#1) was located on a wash that was ~1/8-1/4 mile from farm. It had great privacy as the whole wash was site 1. There is an oak that provides shade but we camped on the wask itself. We used the oak during day time as it gets hot & exposed on wash (bring shade if you gave it). We did this (camp on wash) as campfires were allowed on wash & star gazing was fantastic. I’d recommend site for people who like privacy &/or astronomy. The oak as well as wash has alot of ants (including red ants) so be mindful. You’ll also hear animals at night (in particular peacocks & dogs). We enjoyed our stay & my daughter already wants to come back again 👍🏼
