Lovely forest camping
This was such a lovely, chill spot with lots of amenities. Very grateful for the flush toilet! There was also a picnic table and chairs and water at our site. We only briefly interacted with the landowners, but they seem very cool. I appreciate them being good stewards of the land and working to restore the forest. The steam train was an added, unexpected bonus. If I ever come through that part of California, I’d definitely go stay at Kristin & Ron’s place.
Awesome camping! We had the furthest of the two sites. It was spaciouse, big enough for 2-3 tents. Fire ring and picnic table. They supplied us with a jug if water and the toilet was really nice. The property is beautiful and quiet at night. The stars were amazing! Kristin was an awesome host and very hospitable. We will be back
We had a very quiet evening with lots of privacy. The hosts were very welcoming and the property was beautiful. We walked half mile loop with our dog in the evening as well as the morning. The forest was lush and we saw some deer on the walk. Our dog loved the pond on the property.
The campsite was great! The property is enormous (500 acres)! It was like having an entire forest to ourselves. Ron was very accommodating and gave us everything we needed to get a nice campfire going, despite everything being wet from the rain a few days prior. The pond is great place to relax at and it is very calming.
Great, low-key camping
Forest Camping was exactly as advertised, and what we were looking for. The campsite was perfectly secluded but just close enough to the flush toilet. We really appreciated having the propane fire pit. We enjoyed walking around the property with our dog off leash. Ron and Kristin are terrific hosts.
Chico campaign gem
Only one night is enough to fall in love with this place and with this people! We came on a very Smokey day but didn’t stop us to enjoy the beauty and peace of the property. Ron was extremely kind and friendly, when we were about to leave his cousin-in-law showed us his uncle’s train and told a bit of the fascinating history of the place. We couldn’t be more happy!! Can’t wait to come back on a non Smokey day Ron!! Thank you so much for the hospitality!
Secluded with a great little pond
Secluded spot, thoughtful and attentive hosts, a shockingly clean toilet, and TURTLES! Okay, there were also a lot of wasps (which they warned us about) and I was really glad we brought a screen tent for over the picnic table. There’s plenty of shade around the campsite.
The dirt is the softest, finest variety (you and your stuff will be totally covered). The pond is fabulously mucky around the edges for your toes with tons of fish. Both of these were positives for us, but maybe not for others.
