Slug Acres is a tiny campground I'm in the process of creating overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Its a little piece of Heaven where the Navarro River meets the Ocean and only minutes away from the Navarro River Redwoods State park. Banana Slugs love to live under the canopy of Redwood trees and other Majestic Pines and are often found on my property, hence the name of your future camping destination. At night you will enjoy sleeping by the sound of the waves from the Pacific that carry up thru a gully from small stream that flows on the perimeter of my place. In the distance you will hear the faint soothing sound of the Fog Horn to the entrance of the Albion River harbor.

The Oceanview Campsite is a 10 x 10 camping platform nicely separated from the other campers deeper in the forest.  Because it is deeper in the woods campfires are not allowed in this spot.  I've built a basic outdoor kitchen and a compostable toileting system that will be shared between the two sites. I will have a large battery with a small amount of energy stored in it but plan on living off the grid. Ultimately my goal is to create a emission free camp site but there is also a eco friendly generator if energy needs are a requirement for your stay.

There are many wonderful things to say about the property and my personal favorite is that it's generally insect free. It's pretty rare to experience a nasty mosquito. Even better there are no wild animals that will eat your food at night, aside from the occasional chipmunk. Wild turkeys, deer, and woodpeckers often wander aimlessly around the grounds, all harmless and entertaining, especially the babies. At night you might hear the occasional hoot of an owl that occupies a nearby tree.

The Navarro River State Beach is just 1.3 miles from my property. You can walk there but Highway 1 can be a little busy especially on the weekends. So I suggest driving to the entrance and parking there. The Navarro Redwood park is just a bit farther and where George Lucas filmed the scene in Star Wars in the Ewok village. There are so many other state parks and cities too explore nearby. The Elk store is about 5 miles away for your basic needs or a delicious sandwich currently open M,W,F,SS from 11-4 and Queenies restaurant is open F,S,S,M from 10-3.

Many times I will be onsite for your stay to make sure everything is to your stay is a pleasant one. I'm an eccentric character that wears my hats. In particular I've worked as an international boat captain and create large concrete sculptures. I've lived along the Mendocino coast for 14 years and happy to share all the secret exploring sites along the coast. However, once settled in I will probably find my way of the outskirts of Slug Acres to let you feel like you have your very own campground. By renting my space you will be supporting a Dream. One of creating an off grid paradise that will better the experience of future campers... Hope to see your Tent in my yard soon..

Kyle is a total sweetheart and his place slug acres is very beautiful. The ocean view feels very private, serene, and has magical outdoor seating. Would definitely stay here again and would love to support a host like Kyle who goes above and beyond to make sure guests are comfortable.

Staying at Slug Acres was lovely. We set up our tent on the platform, which was lovely, and the fireplace was a nice touch. There were loads of supplies that I wasn't expecting, especially in the little kitchen. We were glad to being our own water for drinking and tea/coffee, but we used the provided water for cleaning. The highway could be heard loudly during the day but it was pretty quiet at night. Loads of stars and a really beautiful location -- super close to the beautiful bluffs and redwoods.

This is a short path down from the kitchen, outhouse, and other campsite. That makes it a little more private and very scenic!

Pros: propane camp fire is nice to sit around after sunset. propane stoves in kitchen made cooking a breeze. much more pleasant (and safe!) than dealing with wood fires honestly, the platform for the tent is great

Cons: no running water (probably best to pack in your own potable water for drinking/cooking, provided water is fine for washing dishes/hands), need extra rope to "steak" the tent onto the wood platform (if you're worried about it sliding around)

We very much enjoyed our stay at Slug Acres! Awesome location nestled in the hills with close proximity to the coast. We loved the sturdy platform to set up our tent, with plenty of room to set up our chairs. The propane fire pit was awesome and kept us warm as the fog rolled in. We saw lots of chipmunks and birds and got to hear the ocean sounds at nighttime. The communal kitchen area was also very useful. We did end up having cell phone reception (Verizon). Would love to go back one day.

Staying at Slug Acres was an anniversary dream for myself and my partner. The instructions were clear and useful, Kyle is a thoughtful and responsive host who made us feel safe and welcome. The actual campsite was fantastic - from the little details like fairy lights to guide you from site to kitchen to bathroom - to the well-kept fire pit with safety water and extra wood nearby.

My only regret is we didn't book a longer stay. Can't wait to come back soon!

Kyle was great! He welcomed us to the property and explained the outdoor kitchen and campsite rules. Before it got dark, he turned on little twinkle lights to light up the path between our car and tent platform (less than a 1 minute walk). Super quiet location, near great outdoor spots, and I could watch the sunset from my tent. I would stay here again!

Kyle was super nice and love what he's doing, trying to transform the land into a nice campground. He has a nice glamping tent and the platforms are great too. The kitchen and bathroom are quirky and Kyle is working on improving them, but they definitely do the job. Beautiful views of the ocean, too.
