El Nido is an older cabin built from all natural materials - mud and wood from the land, plus straw. It stays cool on hot days and it's easy to warm up with the wood stove in the rainy season. El Nido faces a clearing for morning sun, and is backed by many acres of lofty redwoods. There are 2 more interesting natural homes nearby. At Emerald Earth Sanctuary there are a hundred acres of forest to explore on wide trails, including an amazing view from the ridge top, and a pond for birdwatching. The beautiful Mendocino Coast is only about 35 miles away. Emerald Earth has been an non-profit intentional community for over 30 years, located on land of the Northern Pomo People. We are dedicated to healing the connection between humans and nature, so there are many examples of off-grid living, restorative forestry, and prescribed burns on the land.

Beautiful mystical hobbit shire
This place was so magical. As soon as we arrived Maya came to greet us and showed us the lay of the land. She even gave us delcious pears from her orchard as well as fresh apple juice all from the property. The little cottage itself is so cozy. Its got everything you need from a little kitchen, to a fireplace (highly recomend on the chilly nights) and its even got a shower with hot water a few feet away. Theres a really cool hiking trail near by that takes you up to a peak where you can see the whole valley, Ask Maya about it, she will show you where the trail starts. Also, on the property there are tons of chickens and goats to keep you entertained. We will 100% be back and I would highly recomend this place to anyone whos looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the everyday life .
Sweet and cozy lil home!
Thank you so much for having us, it was such a beautiful and cozy getaway! We loved the warmth of this little home and enjoyed the beauty of the surrounding area. Couldn't have asked for a better place to call home for a couple of days. Stay inside or go outside while you are staying here, you won’t be disappointed. We wanted to find a place that was cute, secluded, and was surrounded by nature and that’s exactly what we got. The perfect place to unplug and connect with yourself or whoever you are with. Cant wait to visit again!
