El Nido is the first cabin built on Emerald Earth from all natural materials - clay, sand, straw and wood from the land.  It stays cool on hot days and it's easy to warm up with the wood stove in the rainy season.

El Nido faces a clearing for morning sun, and is backed by many acres of lofty redwoods.  There are 2 more interesting natural homes nearby which may have residents living there at the time of your stay. You will have privacy and there is a separate path to your house. You will share an out house and shower with the few residents that are on premise. But guaranteed you will have rare sittings of humans if you so choose.

There is also one hundred acres of forest to explore on wide trails, including an amazing view from the ridge top and pond for bird watching. The cabin is within Emerald Earth Sanctuary, a non-profit intentional community for over 30 years, located on the traditional land of the Northern Pomo People. The community is dedicated to promoting a reciprocal relationship between people and land thru intentional community, sacred ecology and nature-based education.

We ask hip campers to please respect the community and enter the premises only in the context of a scheduled tour.

We are off-grid! That means solar powered, wood stove for heat, no refrigerator and no flushing toilets, only compost toilets.

The beautiful Mendocino Coast is only about 35 miles away and the county have many attractions to explore. Go to: visit mendocino . com to learn more about the local attractions.

This is a perfect location for an artists retreat or sabbatical. If you are interested in renting for 2-4 weeks at a time we offer a discounted rate. Please message us for details.

Please note we are not a cannabis farm. We request that alcohol and cannabis use is minimal and that you enjoy it in the house or the immediate area of the house. We don’t want to go looking for you in the woods (hahaha).

We are a family oriented land and we keep it mellow.

This place is really unique opportunity to experience glamping in Emerald Earth community living place. We really liked it and brought back some childhood memories. Also a great way to tune out of busy city life. A big plus is the farm tour with wonderful host Abeja. My 5 yr old loved their pet Matsu , goats and chickens. She also loved hiking all the way up to the ridge to enjoy wonderful view. Eden and Abeja were always available to answer any questions we had during our stay . Overall a great experience staying here. Wineries, breweries, orchard and good restaurants are short distance.

I think this can be a great spot for some people, but it's definitely not for everyone. The cabin is right in the middle of several dwellings within the Emerald Earth Community and shares the toilet and shower facilities. While I can certainly see this emersion in the community as a plus for some, we were expecting a little more seclusion. That being said, Eden, the host, was very nice & accommodating and the cabin itself was very true to the description.

Thanks for the input Greg. I am sorry that you were led to believe that it was secluded. We do state that it is located on a community. I appreciate the need for clarity and will put some clearer words in the description.

What an amazing place! El Nido is a comfortable cabin on a communal farm. The goats grazed right outside our front door, and the friendly dog Matsu came to visit us every day and accompanied us on walks. We used the wood-burning stove to stay warm. We also enjoyed the eggs and cheese we purchased from the farm. It was a perfect weekend. Thank you, Emerald Earthlings, for letting us visit your community!

Great getaway spot. Unique valley up on the ridge with redwoods and a nice hike up to the top of the ridge for some views. They prepared the fire for us in the little wood burning stove and split wood was plentiful. Shower was hot and awesome.
