Welcome to the Honeycomb Hut! Nestled in the foothills of Nevada County, this cabin is the perfect getaway underneath the pine trees. This is a peaceful retreat while still being close to town and outdoor activities. Located on six acres, this beautiful hut was handcrafted with rough-hewn cedar planks. The inside of the hut is super cozy, with two wicker armchairs, a table, a propane fueled stove for heat, and a platform and a mattress with a bottom sheet (no bedding or pillows provided). There are skylights for stargazing, and a giant picture window that looks out on a meadow filled with wild rose bushes. Outside, there are two chairs and benches, as well as an outdoor sink. This hut is wonderful in both summer and in the colder months, as the outdoor space gives plenty of room to spend time in the sunshine, while the indoor propane stove makes everything warm and cozy when it is chilly outside.
This hut is located one mile from downtown Nevada City, making it ideal for walking or biking to town. We are 45 minutes away from the closest ski resort. It is the perfect amount of space for two people, and is wonderful for romantic or friend getaways.
This hut has running cold water and cell service, but no electricity, making for a true glamping experience. There are battery powered twinkle lights provided to add a little magic, but please bring battery powered or solar lanterns for more light. Please also bring lots of warm bedding as it gets chilly in the winter.
Distance and Location:
-The house on the property and neighboring properties are visible from the hut, but the main house is 300 feet away and partially obscured, allowing everyone to retain privacy. There are curtains over the window if more privacy is desired.
-It is possible to park 150 feet away from the hut, allowing you to carry all your goods into the the hut easily.
-There is a dirt driveway 90 feet away that is partially obscured by trees and only used by one house. The door of the hut opens into the forest behind, and many deer like to wander past on their way to and from the meadow. There is plenty of animal and plant diversity surrounding the camp, and we often hear owls and see rabbits and foxes.
-We do have neighbors, so we ask that you limit outside music after 9 PM and be courteous of noise.
-For fire safety concerns, we ask that you only use your camping stoves on the shelf next to the sink outside.
-For fire safety concerns, please don’t bring or burn any candles or incense.
-For fire safety concerns, we ask that nobody smoke on the premises.
-We ask that guests not wear shoes in the hut, so bring warm slippers or socks if your feet have a tendency to get cold!
-We ask that guests turn off the propane stove when not in the hut or when leaving the property.
We are located on Nisenan land, and want to honor the plants, animals, and humans who live here. There are so many beautiful activities and places to go around this area, please don’t hesitate to ask us if you need any suggestions! We have included an information packet with all our favorite things. We love this area and are happy to direct guests to the best places.
We look forward to hearing from you and welcoming you for your Hipcamp experience!

The Honeycomb Hut is such a lovely gem! I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to stay here. I am a single woman taking a road trip alone through some of the national parks in the western US, and this was such a wonderful stop on my journey. I knew very little about the Nevada City area before arriving, but it is a charming town with splendid hiking and swimming nearby.
I felt so comfortable, safe, and happy at the Honeycomb Hut. The hosts are responsive and lovely! The Hut itself is outfitted with so many thoughtful touches like beautiful twinkle lights (battery operated) and a book of local activities, cafes, and other suggestions for a nice stay. There is a sink outside, a very well-kept outhouse, and a stunning window in the cabin that looks out on the property (where in the evenings I watched deer families wander and play). The trees in this part of California are stunning. I highly recommend this special place!
Clean, simple, and beautiful
Elena and Catherine have created a space that is beautiful in its simplicity. The space was comfortable yet spartan, everything one needs for one who doesnt need much. The hut is very conveniently located a few minutes from anything you might need, yet far enough deom civilisation to feel remote. The hosts are very accommodating, would definitely stay here again.
The cabin was very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay in this peaceful place in the woods. Love all the nice comforts of camping while having a comfy bed to sleep in. Looking forward to coming back in the future.
What an amazing place! I love the evening campfires and waking up in the morning staring at the trees through the glass ceiling. What a great way to detach and relax.
Thank you Elena for the nature treat! We will definitely come back.
