A camp spot gem!
This was a great camp spot! Both spaces were private, had a nice outdoor fire pit and a cool outdoor shower. The hosts sent us directions in advance which made it much easier to find the property. I originally requested to stay in the camper but was it already reserved. The hosts were really fast to respond and easy to communicate with, sending me the link to the camp spot when I was in a pinch. When I arrived Elijah gave me a tour of the up and coming property, including Nates amazing design studio.
Mixed feelings, pics are decieving
Hawks Landing is an eclectic hipcamp located about 35 minutes outside of Joshua Tree. Though we had booked it for multiple nights, we ended up leaving after 1 night to camp in the park.
The photos on the site are a bit deceiving - it is more like a lot in someone's backyard, and we were disappointed to hear that the pool was not filled until May. Additionally, the road is pretty rugged getting there - we have a Prius and it was fine, but would recommend 4WD if possible.
Upon arrival, and our entire stay, we did not see/hear from or get a call back from the host - this was odd, as the host had told us to call them upon arrival.
The bathroom, shower, and large table area were a great perk, plus a beautiful view of the mountains. Having running water was also great (though not potable, was helpful for cleaning dishes). That said, the sites were very close together and it is not private. I would say this is a good backup spot if you can't find anything else, but I wouldn't recommend as a first choice.
Spacious and comfy!
Campsite was very spacious, plenty of room for our group of 5. Nate and Elijah were very responsive, accommodating and generous. They’ve adorned the campsite with a very hip, rustic, farmhouse feel, with an outdoor shower, glam bathrooms, and an awesome airstream to set the vibe!
It was a really nice site with great bathroom and shower amenities! The hosts were very kind in directing us to our site. We really enjoyed the night lights that guided in the dark at night, but it was still very well immersed in nature. It was a bit windy at night so plan accordingly. Would recommend 10/10!
