You wouldn’t think that coming out in the middle of the Valley would be so peaceful, until you get here and experience the first sunset beyond the mountains and feel the vibrations of the silent earth. The colors of the cotton candy sky fill the opposite side of the serene sunsets oranges, reds and yellows. Once that sun does set is when you start to hear the creatures of the night in a soothing rhythm. You’ll definitely forget all of your heavy burdens of everyday when you camp with us. Nestled in the beautiful California Valley, we are 2.5 acres of grassy/ sandy field with a breathtaking view of the close mountain ranges. A perfect place to get some rest and only 10 minutes to the historic Soda Lake and Painted Rock. About 3000-4000 years ago, Native Americans painted their sacred images on the sandstone formation, you can still see them today. If the conditions are met, you may also get to experience the wildflower super bloom! Home to the Pronghorn Antelope, Condors, San Joaquin Kit Foxes, Giant Kangaroo Rats, and Blunt Nosed Leopard Lizards.. We are also the oldest section of the San Andreas Fault. Bring your bikes, horses, side by sides, or even a hammock and come chill. We are also family friendly and provide a little play area with a sandbox for the little ones. Have to shower/ use toilet? We got you covered with our beautiful yet simple outdoor shower house/ compost toilet area (please understand it’s just a simple bucket with a toilet seat attached/ nothing fancy.). Just ask and we’ll help with whatever you need.

Listing description includes toilet, shower and even kitchen available. The “toilet” is a 5gal bucket with a seat on it. We did not see a shower nor kitchen. Many other Hipcamps that we have stayed have at least a clean portable camping toilet that flushes into a tank. This place has potential, the views are great, but we could not find the listed amenities and owners where not home.

Hey Michael, thanks for leaving time to review. I wrote you before that we would be gone before you arrived but I do apologize since I haven’t updated my amenities recently. We have a shower house (with attachable water bag to fill) which is in the same area as the bathroom. It’s all compost and simple, and I apologize again if it wasn’t up to your standards.

Booked into Starita Farm without ever being in the Carrizo Plain National Monument area before. We found a hidden gem. Family lives on site, and they are welcoming, gracious but respectful of privacy. Area features birdwatching (Horned Larks, Western Meadowlarks, Osprey, & Red Tailed Hawks). Also spotted Tule Elk. Nights featured minimum light / noise pollution, so we were able to watch shooting stars and passing satellites. As fantastic as the sunsets are, take the time to see the sunrise on at least one morning. Beautiful! Follow the hosts instructions for getting to the camp. Also, the turn off the main road is not signposted, so take the time to do some pre-planning, as cellular service is patchy and your sat nav may send you down a dodgy road. I took screen shots and it helped us out. Also road to site is lumpy. We tow a 16foot trailer and made it by just taking it slow n easy. Our RV site included chairs and a hammock. Hosts are new to the property and are planning enhancements to their camp sites. Enjoy!

Friendly and welcoming host with a unique and beautiful remote spot in the hills. Surprisingly good ATT & Verizon service for those that need it. Would definitely recommend!
