Fantastic tent site!
What an experience! One of the most unique sites within a few hours of LA... We spent one night and I wish we had booked a few more.
The site itself is as described in the HipCamp posting - very thoughtfully arranged, with cooking essentials, shaded picnic table, awesome tepid bath (it was 100F when we reached - and spending a few hours in the water was a godsend, especially with kids), fire ring (Jim, had dropped of some wood for us), and the tank itself is great: two large 'bunk' beds, plenty of windows... don't expect to get much of a reprieve from the heat during the day, but it cools down nicely at night.
Site is easy to locate, up a dirt road (no need for high-clearance vehicle).
Jim stopped by to say hi - and we had his dog come say hi the morning after. Super nice guy - and very thoughtful.
We had a great time staying at the water tank. We had a beautiful sunset, and enjoyed the soaking tub and stargazing later. The site was private and well maintained. We also loved getting a two dog welcome the next morning. The only criticism we had was that it was a bit tight for four, in particular for the two who slept in the top bunk.
We absolutely loved staying at Songdog. Our host Jim met us shortly after we arrived and the site was clean and set up with everything we needed including extra blankets, pillows and cooking supplies. Comfortable lounge chairs, fire pit w wood ready and a picnic table to eat on. We thoroughly enjoyed using the 'tepid tub' for a soak and the views around the property were amazing. Literally the only things that could be considered downsides were that the coyotes were definitely singing most of the night and the main road into the ranch has some mighty potholes so drive slowly if you come in after dark. Otherwise an absolutely unique and comfortable place to get away. We cant wait to go back!
Unique wonderful stay
So unique and beautiful . The glamp tank Sleeps four wonderfully. Comfortable bunks and loved the huge door that opened up . Beautiful surroundings. This property is truly unique and Jim so interesting. He gave us a tour of his Adobe house in the morning which was fascinating. . I took six young men here and they loved it .
