Our campsites are on unceded Kumeyaay territory, in an almost untouched chaparral landscape with oak trees, white sage and California buckwheat growing abundantly. Just down the road is where the Buffalo Soldiers were originally housed.

We have 5 sites total, each of which has its own hipcamp listing. Each site is located away from another and each has its own unique microbiome. This site is off its own trail, which other campers will not have access to. We do allow multiple camping groups on the land at a time, but at 120 acres, there is plenty of space and trails such that everyone has their privacy and distance.

The site is at the very entrance of the oak grove, with abundant shade and soft ground to set up tents and tables at. The trail is easily accessible by car, with flat compact ground; after you park the site is approx. 15 feet away, through the trees.

This site is wonderful for van camping or larger groups. It can comfortably host a maximum of 9 people, 6 tents and 3 vehicles.  Please note: While this is the maximum we recommend everyone carpool if they can to help the environment and reduce the number of vehicles on the land.

*Additionally* This site can be booked with site 3 for a large connected site which can comfortably host groups between 15 and 30 people with a max of 7 vehicles. Please message us to inquire if you are looking to camp with a large group.

We have about 10 spigots throughout the entrance of the property, and you are more than welcome to fill your water jugs/bottles here for your use during your stay. The cold, delicious water comes straight from our well.

As of today 02/12/2021 we are allowing fires, as we have had some good rain and snow. Please let us know upon booking if you intend to have a fire and we will leave a bucket of water by the site and provide fire extinguishers. There are two fire pits at this site. Propane cooking is always allowed.

Dogs are now allowed on a case by case basis. We have 26 farm animals here (goats, sheep, chickens, peafowl ect) in addition to 5 of our own dogs and wild animals. Your dog must be well behaved and good with other animals and must be leashed when near the main house/farm but can be off leash at your site and on trails.

On the land there is a mountain and oak forests for hiking/exploring, we simply ask that you do not harvest/wildcraft any of the white sage on the property, as it is an endangered medicine sacred to the Indigenous peoples of California. On the way to the mountain you will see a silver water tower, there is a spigot at the base of this with fresh water for your use while hiking/exploring. Please also note that because 90% of the property is untouched there are wild animals, such as quail, snakes, coyotes, hares and lizards. We have printed animal and plant identification lists for your use while you camp.

The land is not only a campground but also a growing family farm; We have chickens, pigs, dogs and there are peacocks who roam the property. You can follow us on instagram @paraisopavoreal to check out what we're up to.

We are 7 miles south of Lake Morena and two miles north of the Pacific Crest Trail Southern Terminus.

Lake Morena features boating and fishing, parking is $3. Fishing/Boating fees are posted on their website along with the fishing report for the season.

The Pacific Crest Trail is a 2600 mile trail from the southern border to the northern border. The portion near us features beautiful hikes. More information can be found on the Pacific crest Trail Association website.

This was a great spot! The site was private without being secluded and had plenty of access to walking trails. Even on a hot day, the site was well shaded and comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay!

Our family was joined by another family for tent camping on this beautiful site. Caterra was extremely helpful and friendly and was able to direct us to where we could find our site. There are beautiful peacocks and farm animals our children enjoyed visiting, and they also loved the nearby Railroad Museum (the museum is less than five minutes away, is open on Saturdays and Sundays and if you reserve in time includes a 45 minute train ride). We were prepared for camping in this remote campground, so do beware there are not formal facilities but there is plenty amazing well water so this is not dry camping. Additionally, we made sure to bring most of what we needed as otherwise you will need to drive out of Campo for a bigger supply run and/or groceries (there is a gas station and small store in town). The campsite opens up into an open desert landscape and as such you will most likely encounter wildlife (in our case a bobcat and a skunk) and extra attention will be needed to avoid cactus spines, red ants, and possibly poison oak (especially for little ones traveling with you). That said, there is a set of homes by the farm
animals less than two minutes away and Caterra responds very quickly to communication, so if you need any help there is plenty around. We definitely will be back!

Beautiful camp site, with a large flat area for a tent. Great fire ring as well! We enjoyed hearing the farm animals in the morning, and even saw some goats pass by. So fun!

We had a great time here. Great host (and family), great views, and lots to do. The farm animals were the highlight for my little one (6 years old).
