The huts are so cute, and I love the communal camping environment. It was fun to see where others were coming from. It was also nice that dogs are welcome, it was kinda like a dog party ☺️
The view of the stars is amazing! There's a lot of cool hiking nearby. Definitely bring a blanket, though, as it gets cold at night! And maybe a sun umbrella
If unusual is something you are comfortable with, then you'll really enjoy Blue Sky and what they have to offer. The very concept of Blue Sky is worth learning about, and how they have organized a way to explore the extraordinary environment of the Cuyama Valley is a treasure. So much to see, so much to learn about!

What a fun adventure! My teenage daughter thought it was super cool. We felt safe, which is very important for me. Very quiet in the camp, we saw no one in the buildings, just out and about. Great dinner at the Buckhorn Grill. The one thing, is the early roosters and barking dogs in the neighborhood, but it was not a big deal for us as we're early risers. GREAT communication/help from the staff. Can't wait to visit again!

Blue Sky is a special place in New Cuyama. The huts are all unique structures with mattress heaters to keep you warm in the cold evenings. We came as a group and enjoyed keeping warm by the fire and watching the sunset over the horizon with a great view of the stars. With bathrooms and a shower in the main building and a stove and shared fridge in the cantina, Blue Sky provides everything you'd need to stay comfortably. It's a short walk or even faster bike ride to the Buckhorn for a meal. Highly recommend!
Overall, I had a wonderful time! The hut was so cute! Initially, I was a little worried I’d end up being cold but with the heated blanket and space heater I was toasty! It’s definitely necessary to bring ear plugs as the huts are close together and you can easily hear your neighbors if they’re being loud. My one issue was that the hatch to close the door once you’re inside didn’t close correctly. Without it closing and locking fully, the door would swing open in the wind. I was able to keep the door mostly closed by using a hair tie, but it would be great if the hatch could be adjusted.

I had a lovely long weekend with the Blue Sky Center in the Quonset Hut. The property was exactly as described, a series of small canvas covered wagons on the edge of town. We were thankful for the recommendation of bringing earplugs as the neighbourhood dogs were out in full force for Thanksgiving and, as mentioned, the wagon/huts are canvas covered so if you go to bed earlier or wake up later than any of the other campers you will hear everything - also something to note is that the light will also filter in so perhaps an eye shade may be an option. All of the huts were filled (there was nobody camping nor staying indoors in the dorm rooms on site) and the kitchen and communal areas were rarely occupied (save a wait for the shower on our final morning). I think if there were campers sharing the kitchen it could get a little cozy. We had a power outage around 9pm one evening and the caretaker was unable to bring the power back - he offered to move us indoors into dorm rooms, this was a nice offer but we didn't book the property and pay to stay in a dorm room(maybe more pertinent is that the huts do not lock and we were faced with the decision of move everything we brought with us indoors at 10:30pm or so when the move was happening or leave them unlocked and unsecured), thankfully we each had brought sleeping bags that were winter rated and decided to stay the night. The blankets in the hut without the heater and heated blankets would not have been warm enough. I would recommend everyone bring sleeping bags in the cooler months. It is a very special place and a unique stay. It was very obvious that a lot of thought and attention was put into this space and I can see myself visiting again in the future. With a all of the amenities I think this is very fairly priced. Oh! And the coffee in town is *chefs kiss* - so good! A great little morning walk to start the day. I also wish I had read ahead and brought my swimsuit - the community pool and hot tubs looked amazing.
Great time here . The first night we had the place almost to ourselves so we really got to enjoy everything . It gets hot from 11ish to 3:30ish. To stay out of the heat, we did the sagebrush Annie’s wine tasting about 15 minutes away and the next day we stayed in the cowboy pool. After that there was a nice breeze and the temps weren’t as much of a problem as I had anticipated . Truly a wonderful getaway !
Amazing stay! Had such a great time there, will definitely be back!
this is place was more than what i expected. With locations ive stayed at on AirBnb and Other sites, I often get to the place, and the reality doesn't actually meet the expectations. Not this place. The hut is as expected and much more! it was clean, and well prepared. The facilities on site are also just as clean and well prepared. The staff communication was amazing, and extremely flexible. I would recommend this place.. and would come again. there is a reason the huts are boooked out so far ahead, because it truly is a unique glamping experience.
