One of the last remaining undeveloped parts of Southern California, De Luz Heights is located adjacent to the Cleveland National Forest, and the Santa Margarita River (just a few miles from the campsite). This 12-month flowing river is the only one in Southern California that has never been altered or dammed by humans, and features a state-managed hiking trail with many water holes along the way with clear, clean water to dip into. On my 40 acres, there are no roads going through or next to the property. You can let your children or dogs run off leash without fearing cars. My land is 13 miles from the Pacific ocean and enjoys a relatively mild yearly climate. Giant boulders provide topographical relief and offer platforms from which to enjoy the view of the nearby Santa Margarita Mountains. The valley views are filled with olive groves, vineyards, and horse ranches. The campsite embraces all the comforts of "glamping": a hot shower, composting toilet, beds with sheets provided, gas grill with a stovetop, pots and pans, kitchenware, a sink, picnic table, shaded deck, sofa, lounge chairs, and fire pit. The basics are provided: toilet paper, paper towels, purified drinking water, towels, sheets, cooking oil, etc. Campers need to bring their own blankets.I've created a network of hiking trails for especially fit hikers looking for a more rigorous hike than the nearby Santa Margarita River Trail. My trails lead through creek beds, over boulders, through rocky crags, with views of the Pacific ocean on a clear day. Hikers on my trails need to wear proper hiking boots with good traction. Sections of my trails will require bouldering with hands and feet. Expect to have fatigued quadriceps, some scrapes, and a sweaty hat brim.
The campsite is accessible with a two-wheel drive vehicle; I drive a Kia Forte out there regularly. However, some tips when driving a two-wheel drive car: when going uphill on a dirt road, try to keep some momentum of about 12-15 MPH. If you stop and try to start again, your tires will spin out. If that happens, just reverse down the hill, and try it again with more momentum.

Exciting with everything we needed.
It was so different than anything we have done in the past and we loved it. This place had all the accommodations we desired and more! A little bit of a challenge to get here but with Chris' help it was not confusing. The second morning here the battery died and we thought we wouldn't be able to make coffee but fortunately there were ways around this.
Incredibly beautiful experience!
By far one of my favorite stays! Chris was incredibly helpful with directions & even sent a youtube video to guide guests through the terrain. Luckily, my 4x4 vehicle made it much easier to get up there. If you want nearby hiking trails, Chris sent us maps & links to some great ones! The camp was equipped with some electrical hookups that came in super handy during our stay. There were also so many thoughtful details such as, an outlet tied up to our bottom bunk bed for charging our phones, lots of kitchen accessories, I can go on! The heated showers were also much appreciated once it started to cool down at night! Sleeping in the dome was absolutely beautiful & gave us a different perspective on “glamping!” It should definitely be on every camper’s bucket list!
Awesome local getaway!!
If you have a sense for adventure, enjoy hiking and want to relax in a quiet area to get away from it all, then Bailes Dome Home is the place to be!! Our family of four thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The dome home is adorable and has everything you need for a comfortable stay without having to pack a bunch of camping gear! Loved the Monopoly board game provided and the host gave us a map of all the hiking trails on the property. Oh and our lab loved it too!! We had a blast and will definitely be coming back!
Feel at home in a dome.
We had a wonderful time at Christopher's place! A quiet, soul-searching experience. The sunset was gorgeous. Everything we needed was provided. The host was very accommodating & communicative with logistics.
We loved our stay at the Dome! We are avid car campers and always bring our van just in case we need anything but the Dome had everything! Cooking tools, paper towels, a grill, lighters, bedding, toilet, games, drinking water, coffee maker, camping chairs, and more! We felt so spoiled! We really appreciated the cute fence surrounding the dome and kitchen so our pup could hang out with us at night without wandering. We can’t wait to be back!
A fun night in the dome!
This was an incredible camp site!! Had absolutely everything we needed and more. The bed was comfortable and the views were beautiful! I would one hundred percent come back and recommend this spot to friends and family.
At home in the dome
Loved staying at Bailes Dome Home - the dome tent is roomy and does a nice job of keeping the elements out. The overall light and ambience is very pleasant and cozy within the tent. The beds are comfortable and the clear window allows for beautiful views. The covered kitchen area has everything needed to cook your meals "al fresco" and the picnic table and outdoor area is a welcoming place to relax, sun bathe, take in a sunset or simply look up at the stars at night. The warm outdoor shower is a welcomed delight. We explored the property, hiked the Santa Margarita River Trail, had margaritas at Estrellas in Fallbrook and enjoyed each others company and the great outdoors. So many birds in the area if that's something you enjoy.
