Enjoy seclusion in a forested nook at the bottom of Bluegill Hill, at Lake Greeson in SW Arkansas.  Fox Nook is a primitive campsite that offers total privacy and lots of shade within a young forest of mostly oak and pine trees.

There's plenty of space that comes with booking a stay at Fox Nook, so that offers you a few choices on where to set up. All of the following are part of your booking, so choose one or all! Fox Nook is the main attraction, has table and chairs, bbq pit, fire ring etc. However, there is also a tiny spot just uphill to Fox Nook with leveled ground that will accommodate a small tent. Then there is the small ridge area about 20 yards above Fox Nook. It's part of the road in and is a loop, so it's great for trailers over 12' or any larger rig than what can fit the final yards into Fox Nook. So yeah, plenty of options for you, all part of your booking! It's a perfect part of Bluegill Hill to accommodate a campsite and I think you're going to love it!

There are two hiking trails that lead to the lake and both require only a few minutes of walking.  Kitty Cove trail is the shortest walk, about 2 or 3 minutes, and leads to a secluded cove with two islands.  Bennett Cove trail takes about 4 minutes to walk and joins into a road from a small neighborhood of vacation cabins (and very few full-time residents), so it is possible that this area might have a few friendly folks enjoying the lake.  It is a great area to swim and sunbathe on the shale shoreline.

After a short distance on these trails, you will be leaving Bluegill Hill's private property and entering public land that surrounds the lake.  A large buffer of land along shoreline, and the lake, is overseen by the Army Corps of Engineers.  It's all open to the public, but this area of the lake sees very little traffic and remains a hidden gem.

At dawn, nature wakes up and the songbirds sing, occasionally crows visit, and I also have chickens at the top of the hill.  The roosters have a powerful voice but the ridge above the campsite and the trees do a great job of deflecting and muffling the sound.  The most unnatural sound will be from the occasional semi-truck traveling along the highway.  It's a small highway, not a main thoroughfare, and they rarely transport on weekends.  All areas along the northern edge of Lake Greeson are close to the highway, luckily Fox Nook is one that is tucked pretty well into the forest but it's not immune to the sound of the occasional weekday semi-truck.  By 10 a.m. the breeze picks up from the south and helps push back any highway noise.

*Price for firewood is based on what you think is fair, how much you use, and/or can afford. Suggested prices range from $5-$7 per bundle. Further info is available at campsite, such as Venmo and Paypal, as well as a small box for cash.

Booking price already includes all applicable taxes for state sales and local tourism.  Thank you for visiting Arkansas, the Natural State!

Charles was an amazing host he kept a supplied with wood. He was quick to respond to all messages. Kitty cove offered a trail to the lake that wasn't too deep for the kids to swim but deep enough! Very welcoming and very friendly willing to help in any way he could!

Super private spot with limited access to the lake. I was able to manage it with a mid-sized all wheel drive SUV towing an 8-foot camping trailer (with effort) Tight turns and limited open space made maneuvering tricky and recent rains had significantly washed out the dirt road. We acquired water from the provided spigot halfway down and then set up on the ridge site. Initial impressions of the site were that it was cluttered but looking more closely all the items served a purpose…dishwashing water/pails on two metal chairs…cut wood stacked on a low grill…fire pit and two metal chairs…toilet area screened with tarps. The host had provided a batch of wood and set a fresh bag in the toilet. We explored one of two marked trails down to the lake. It was a five min walk to an unmowed small clearing where we could view the lakes edge but we choose not to walk through the tall grasses to see more of the lake. Ultimately we decided to move on as it was hot, humid and the mosquitoes were swarming that evening. The lake was too far to drag our boat down to easily as an escape from the heat/bugs and the forest was keeping the air very still around us. Our host graciously messaged us as we were leaving to offer a different spot with electricity for air conditioning but we do not have AC in our little trailer so declined and moved on. If you are used to the heat and mosquitoes of the AK forests then this spot will be a great retreat. Its not glamorous but it is private.
