Description

For some stellar views of granite rock outcroppings, some pine and juniper foresty goodness, and cozy, primitive campsites for tents or RVs, check out Yavapai Campground. Located within the Granite Basin Recreation Area, this region has oodles of multi use trails to explore and beautiful scenery to soak in. Bonus: it's only a few miles outside of the city of Prescott, where you can grab a local brew and cruise the cute downtown when you are ready to emerge from the woods.

It's an ok campground. The best part of the campground are the host. There are recycling toilets. Drinkable water.
But the forest service doesn't do much here. The lower water spigot is STILL missing the top plug, so when you go to get water is blows out of 2 holes instead of one. Get ready to get wet. Site 16 has the largest ant hill I've ever seen. If you stay there you will get accosted by them. There are also bookoos of tent caterpillars in the oak trees directly over where you park.
When you go to reserve, there are rarely openings of any length. But when you arrive, those supposedly reserved sites are empty. You need to occupy from first night. And get ready for it to sound like your in a dog park. RUDE thoughtless dog owners!

Beautiful campground. Clean. Quiet. Spacious sites far apart. Great fire ring. High marks for composting toilets! Zero odor. (Do be aware of bees and wasps at the fresh water fill station though.)
