Rianna gave accurate, easy to follow directions to get to the camping area. She met me when I arrived and showed me where I could camp. She is very friendly and easy to talk to.
It is dispersed camping off of a dirt road loop across from where Rianna lives. She keeps an eye on the place to make sure that only people are there who are supposed to be there which made me feel more comfortable as a solo camper.
There is a standard outhouse to use. The area is flat and open and thus can be very windy. Rianna warned me of a wind advisory the two nights I was there and so I chose to car camp over tent camp which worked nicely. And actually the wind didn't end up being too bad! Tent camping might be a little less comfortable due to the scrubby plants which might be lumpy under your tent.
I was only 45 minutes or so away from the south entrance to the Grand Canyon. So I was able to get back and forth easily and spend the day enjoying hiking in the Grand Canyon.
Rianna’s campground was beautiful. We relaxed by the fire after a long day of hiking in the Grand Canyon. Their property is quiet and peaceful and offers spectacular views of the stars at night. Their dog was also a delight.
A gem with a view!
Our host made sure we didn’t miss her hard to find road, going so far as to stand outside watching for us.
Upon arriving she told us how best to park to block the wind, introduced us to her sweet dogs, and gave us chicken eggs!
The views were amazing! Sunrise, sunset and the stars are worth the trip alone- but being so close to the Grand Canyon was also epic! The driveway has a bit of a drop, but you can avoid it by taking the secondary road.
All and all it was the most refreshing place I’ve ever stayed!
Rianna was welcoming, present, we met the family, she gave us great history of the area, where to get our things in Flagstaff and was a delight to visit with. We look forward to seeing her again and great location close to the south rim.
Had a great time tent camping here for three nights on our honeymoon! Rianna was extremely welcoming and the stars were very beautiful at this site. We had some strong winds the first night but afterwards it wasn't a problem. Would definitely recommend a stay here for Grand Canyon hikers!
Casual and carefree plus private
It was great. Despite the wind, typical of southwest springs, the feel was very casual, kind of “Nomadlandish” cool, good for getting to the Canyon, Flagstaff, Williams, and the National Forest. Rianna and David are great. I hope to meet them again.
Great spot with a wonderful host
Great spot to set up a camper or car camp. There is a very clean outhouse to use which makes things just that much easier. Beautiful sunsets after a day of hiking the Grand Canyon.
