Homegrown Campground & Cabins is nestled on the north shore of Alberta’s largest lake and we offer cozy camping areas with private lakefront views of Dog Island.

Currently, a work in progress, but so far I have 4 sites, 2 of which have decks that overlook the lake, giving you a unique camping experience with a beautiful view.

Adjoining the property, there is an 18 hole golf course and a bird observatory within walking distance.

Points of interest nearby include Lesser Slave Lake Provincial Park. This is a landscape of contrasts. The southern end of the park consists of storm beaches, beach ridges and blowout dunes behind which are a series of marshes and wetlands. It is one of Canada's northernmost bird observatories and is one of the only boreal forest bird observatories in the world.

Activities nearby include fishing, hiking, wildlife watching, swimming, and so much more!

Pets are welcome, campfires are permitted.

If a group who wants to camp together requires more than one site, please book if available, Sites 1 & 2 together, or sites 3 & 4.

Amazing!!’ 100 percent recommend Garrets place on the Hipcamp app. If you search homegrown campground slave lake he has 3 different listings. All of which are amazing!
We rented site 1 and 4 which both have treehouse style decks over looking the lake! Waking up right beside the water is a dream come true!!! The waves crashing and birds singing!!! Being with my family! Can’t get much better than this. The spots are huge and clean. It’s off grid so no power, but I believe he has potable water available if needed.
The host is very kind and quiet but will respond quickly to any questions. His two beautiful sweet dogs will pop by for a visit every now and then. We loved having them visit!!
You can access the beach right from your sites, although it’s a little bit steep, but wow!!! So awesome your own private beach!!
There is also a wonderful sandy beach about 10 minutes away. The lake is also sandy and quite shallow for a ways out. Great for all activities!!!
We loved every minute of our time here and will return for sure.
Washroom is one clean outhouse.
I look forward to what’s in store next as he is continuing to work and make this place even better!!! A+in our books thank you Garrett!

The host is very nice and friendly that answered our questions about where is the entry. We didn’t find our table and the fire pit once we enter our site. After a phone call to the host, moved a table from a cabin site. For the fire pit, we came back from beach and found it in our site surprisingly.
Overall, it’s a nice and quiet place if you want to have fun in the salve lake, but you may also find this place sometimes lack of management. (Misplace table and difficult finding fire pit). Also didn’t find portable water but I may misunderstood it.

I'm sorry that you feel this way. Entitled campers took it upon themselves to remove items from your site before you arrived. I did not know about this and I apologize for any inconvenience that this caused you. Also, I am not alway able to be home, so sometimes a self check-in maybe required, and this is also why I ask for an ETA so I can have everything ready for your arrival.

Our site and stay was great. Lots of privacy, especially on the deck, great lake views. Would recommend bringing a water container so you're not going back and forth 😄

We had a wonderful time at Garrett’s site. We booked the site with the single large deck, as it had more space for us. The site had a beautiful view of Lesser Slave Lake. The path down to the lake was steeper, longer, and more rugged than we expected - bring sandals/shoes with a little extra tread if you plan to trek down to the water. The lakeside was beautiful (worth the trek) and is even more breathtaking at sunset.

I’d bring enough water for your trip; while there’s potable water, the tap is at the side of a cabin. The tap was handy, it just would have been easier if we’d brought an extra container.

The site was quiet, peaceful, and just what we were looking for. Garrett was exceptionally responsive, answering all our questions very quickly. I would, and have already, recommended this spot to friends looking for a serene lakeside spot.

Beautiful views, very quiet and relaxing.
Garrett was extremely accommodating. I would highly recommend this site to any one who wants away from the typical over crowded camp sites.

Absolutely loved this place. Garrett was so accommodating and made sure we had the best site for our group. He even dropped off wood at our site so it was ready when we arrived. Everything is well taken care of, the campground was super peaceful, the view of the lake from our site was amazing and we loved having campfires on the beach every night. One of the best spots I've camped in Alberta for sure.
