Beautiful property. We stayed at site #2, Creekbend. It was more of a hike than a walk to get to the campsite but it was well worth it.

Such a special, unique spot! We stayed at the creekside campsite. It felt very private and had a beautiful stream. I wanted to sit on the creek rocks all day. Host Dustin was friendly and helpful. Can't wait to come back and try one of the bell tents.

Transcendent and spiritual

The famed transcendentalist Henry David Thoreau "went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.” Like Thoreau, I went alone for soiritual detoxification. Parksland is not as austere as Walden Pond, but there is much self-discovery within. Hurricane Ida decayed its way through Parksland the day I arrived. As if reliving 1969 Woodstock, I surrendered to wetness, cast off my textile burdens and in the wet darkness and slight chill, clung to nature's bosom as my hominid ancestors did at the mouth of some shallow cave . I contemplated the life he lived, precarious, a single slippery rock from catastrophe, inexorible pain, and welcomed death. These woods have yet to reveal to me the fate which awaits Homo sapien, but this Thoreau also knew: "I am alarmed when it happens that I have walked a mile into the woods bodily, without getting there in spirit." One need not disrobe to enjoy Parksland's refreshment, but in deliberately speaking to her in her silent tongue, Nature replies with enlightenment. Feel the authenticity of Nature on the entirety of your body. Lie upon her in silence, feel her flow over your body as she washes away layers of self-doubt and self-loathing. There is much wisdom in these woods.

Parksland is an amazing primitive campsite! Dustin was friendly and helpful! I only wish I'd known the roads were also unimproved and primitive. I was on my motorcycle and it was a challenging ride to camp! I survived and it added to the memory!

Parksland Retreat was a JOY. The entire place is beautiful, so well kept, there's lovely signs everywhere, and everyone staying there was beyond kind. The swimming hole is gorgeous, the hike is long and windy, the waterfall nearby is truly magnificent. Dustin was the sweetest ever, and was so generous and kind to us. It was my first ever camping trip by myself, and it was the perfect place. I plan to return. Maybe even in one of the yurts :)

Amazing little slice of heaven. There is a short hike to a swimming spot with clear river water and little green sunfish that try to nibble at you. 10/10 would recommend
