Camp Chippewa was an Indian landing and settlement hundreds of years ago, before the white men arrived. After the arrival of the French in the 1800's, the land was used as a logging mill during the logging of northern Wisconsin. The Catholic Church on the hill, next to Camp Chippewa, is a reminder of those times of hardship and hope. The Old Murry Town Hall is a reminder of how great life was here during the early years of Rusk County and The North Woods of Wisconsin. This land was highly volcanic billions of years ago and the rocks here are the oldest on the planet. You will be able to search for gemstones right on Camp Chippewa grounds. Your guide will show you where to and how to.
