West Virginia’s Coolest, Newest, Vacation Cabin Rental and Hip Camping Resort!  The idea for creating a cabin rental/camping vacation getaway in the Allegheny Mountain Range came to life over several meetings at a Bob Evans restaurant in Columbus, Ohio, between co-owners Paul and Christy Liimatta and Joe Boffo. Joe had been accumulating land in the Genoa, West Virginia, area for several years and had dreamed of building cabins, tree houses and uniquely designed vacation rentals and campsites on a beautiful area called Hampton Ridge. The farm consists of 370 acres of bottomland pasture along the creek and quiet woodlands where you can explore jagged rock cliffs and beautiful vistas. The woodlands are undergoing transformation as we continue an ongoing forest rehabilitation project to return our land to its natural state as a deciduous hardwood forest. Spotted on the farm is an amazing abundance of wildlife including wild turkeys, white tailed deer, pileated woodpeckers, bobcats, coyotes, foxes, bear, and red tailed hawks.

The farm is comprised of nearly 30 acres of native woodland made up of hardwoods and precious plants Many wild animals call it home. Our intention on the farm is to interact with the land in a way that is healthy. Healthy for us, our livestock, the water, the air. Healthy in a long lasting way, building fertility in our fields that goes on to feed generations. Learn more about this land:We welcome you to our working farm located in the New River Gorge region of West Virginia. This land has been farmed for over 150 years, but sat vacant for nearly 40 years before we settled down. We have poured our heart into this land, every year we make progress towards further transforming it. Just 5 minutes from town our farm is the perfect place to park your RV while you play here in the NRG. With only one RV hookup site you will have the farm to yourself. The site overlooks our field and is a short walk to our outdoor shower. Not far from the site is a large fire pit, we can provide a bundle of fire wood . The sight has power and water hookup and room to turn around to exit. During your stay you can enjoy the sights and sounds of a working farm. We do chores around 9/10 AM and invite any curious guests to join us! Christine would love to share her passion for farming with you. Looking for a more in-depth farm experience? Check out our "Extras" and lend a hand on the farm and learn about the land from Christine. Our farm does have working livestock guardian dogs. They will spend the night barking to keep our sheep safe and coyote and bears at a distance. Over the years, when asked, guests reported they had not noticed the occasional barking after dark. We ask that you do not enter any paddocks they are in and only interact with them when in the presence of the farmers. Thank you! It wouldn't be a true farm visit without a farm fresh meal! Inquire about purchasing a dozen farm fresh eggs to enjoy during your stay or grab a dozen for the road!Christine is looking forward to meeting you this season!

The best camping near Chief Logan State Park guide

Overview

About

One of West Virginia’s most beloved parks, Chief Logan State Park is surrounded by rolling crests and valleys, with 18 miles of hiking trails winding out from basecamp. Some are great for mountain biking, others for snapping photos of wildflowers and fauna. They vary in intensity from relaxing, to worthy of a carbo-load, but even if you work up a sweat the park has an outdoor swimming pool with waterslides to cool you off (the pool hosts several “pool bashes” in the summertime, complete with DJ!) An outdoor amphitheater at the park puts on The Aracoma Story regularly, a play about the tribe that formerly occupied the area. There’s also a wildlife center for observing black bears, bobcats, owls, hawks, wild boar, and reptiles native to the region, and a Kanawha Class locomotive on display for train enthusiasts. Even if you can’t make it to any of this limitless recreation in the warmer months, the park is worth a drive-thru in December—they get really into Christmas lights, great for a scenic sunset drive capped off by whimsical holiday cheer.

When to go

The ideal time to visit Chief Logan State Park is during the spring and fall when the weather is mild and the natural beauty is at its peak. Summer brings warmth perfect for outdoor activities, though it can be crowded. Winters are less ideal, with cooler temperatures and fewer services available.

Know before you go

  • Check the park's official website for any alerts on closures or safety advisories before your visit.
  • Ensure you have a map of the park, as cell service can be spotty in remote areas.
  • Wear appropriate footwear and clothing for hiking and exploring the diverse terrain.
  • Be mindful of the local wildlife; keep a safe distance and do not feed the animals.
  • Take advantage of the available facilities, including picnic areas and restrooms, to make your visit comfortable.
