Happy 2024 Hipcampers! We look forward to seeing you this upcoming season! (Keep checking back- we will be adding and exciting new listing for our Hipcamp guests soon!!} BEFORE BOOKING: Please read through all of the rules and restrictions- due to inconsiderate guests we have had to update rules and add new ones. Thank you. **IF YOU ARE BRINGING YOUR DOG: PLEASE read ALL the rules for your pet- especially the one about having your dog on a leash AT ALL times while you are on the property. More info under the pet rule section. Thank you! Waterfall Sanctuary is a hidden gem at the end of a dead-end road on 17 acres of land, bordered on two sides by the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. Located in the heart of the Columbia River Gorge just outside of Carson, Washington, Waterfall Sanctuary is home to a mini-farm with goats, ducks, and chickens. Deer and elk walk through the property on a fairly regular basis depending on the season, it's less than a mile walk (or a short drive) to the Wind River and a perfect swimming hole with a rope swing, and another short distance further down the road is the Pacific Crest Trail. A 20-minute drive and you're at the Columbia River, the world destination for kiteboarding and windsurfing. Water equipment can be rented from nearby businesses or you can book a whitewater rafting trip on the White Salmon River. An hour from the property to the West is Portland, Oregon if you are in the mood for some city life, and about 40 minutes to the east is Hood River, Oregon, a gorgeous old town with tons of charm, shopping, breweries, and great restaurants. Drive the Fruit Loop or do a winery tour. The closest town, Stevenson, Washington is also home to adorable shops, great local restaurants, and access to the Columbia River as well. Also in close proximity are multitudes of amazing waterfalls, Panther Creek Falls and Falls Creek Falls being the two closest. National Forest roads are close by and well maintained. No matter the season there is something to do a short distance from the property. Please, keep in mind that the property is very rugged except for the trails we have provided for our guests to be able to access other parts of the property. We keep it that way not only so we can attract the copious amounts of wildlife that are a joy for our guests to experience, but also to be more environmentally and ecosystem friendly. We are also off grid and as sustainable as possible- no electricity or running water is available, although we provide battery or solar operated lighting, and a container of water for each spot that we will happily refill for you during your stay.

Forest View Cabin
We really did enjoy our stay here. The host was so kind and helpful. We would really like to return. So I hate to have anything negative to say. I do wish it was a bit cleaner. There were dead flys all over the window sills and dirt/rocks in between the bed sheets. Thankfully, my partner and I are no strangers to dirt and such while “glamping”. It was just a bit disappointing considering the cleaning fee. BUT every other aspect was lovely! Truly!

An absolute gem!
This place is STUNNING and outrageously cute inside and out. We were super lucky and had the place to ourselves, so we had the perfect quiet weekend we hoped for. Tyla went above and beyond to accommodate us, replied very quickly, and was overall a sweetheart! The trail around her property is just lovely, and getting to meet the freerange chickens was a hoot. We can't wait to come back!!

Forest View Cabin
Forest Rejuvenation
Secluded, simple cabin with no light pollution made for beautiful star gazing! Tucked in the forest with trails and beautiful view—a fantastic venue for regrounding, rejuvenating, and reconnecting with the healing of Mother Nature. Surrounded by USFS land, privacy is ensured from the busy highways and sparsely populated, the sounds of the forest were a delight. Many bird species around. The small cabin had perfect subdued lighting, and Tyla provided suggestions for local activities and eateries. She was very welcoming, responsive, and answered any questions I had. I will definitely recommend to friends and also stay again to explore more of the area; this is a great base for venturing in the Columbia River gorge.

The wild spot your looking for
If getting away is what you seek, this is it!! This secluded and vast wild wooded property was stunning with autumn’s vivid colors that were just showing and painting the forest. Tyla’s sanctuary is a short distance to my favorite trails and falls. They never get old. Truly a magnificent backyard wild lands to explore in the Gifford Pinchot forest. . We however stayed put and had a fire in the provided pit to enjoy the stars and owl song by night and by day exploring Tyla’s special piece of paradise that is set against a hillside that provides a view of the valley. The bohemian decorated tents were a special colorful touch that we all enjoyed as well as visiting the goats in the morning. I think this would make a perfect retreat getaway. I’m thinking a retreat around foraging mushrooms and visit to the falls would hit that spot for me. Or a homeschool group wanting that outdoor learning environment. Really any thing. Bring warm bedding and chairs, lanterns to see by , and a cook stove. The beds are comfortable ,the spring water delicious.
