Squilchuck State Park, aside from having one of the oddest names of any park in Washington, is quite the forested retreat. Abundant growths of Firs and Pondrosa Pines spread over the park’s 288 acres, giving it a classic rustic vibe. This vibe is helped even further by the Squilchuck lodge, which is popular for weddings, reunions and other group events. Hiking and mountain biking are popular activities during the warmer months, giving way to cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in the colder ones. There is only one group campsite in the park, which accommodates up to 100 people. But you’re out of luck if your party is less than 20. Still, a day in Squilchuck State Park is a day well spent.
