Rainbow Falls State Park
The cascades are small, the trees are huge, and the adventures are unforgettable.
Step into this 129-acre patch of Washington's natural heritage. The park covers a rare old growth forest teeming with cedar, Douglas fir, hemlock, and other old growth trees. At the focal point is the humble namesake waterfall with a spray casting rainbows into the sky.
With 3,400 feet of shoreline along the Chehalis River, this park is a haven for fishing and free swimming (Who needs beaches anyway?)
There are also 3 miles of lush multi-use trails through loamy woods. Explore them on foot, by bike or on horseback. If that's not enough to satisfy your trail cravings, nearby Willapa Hills State Park Trail offers 22 miles of scenic beauty.

Don’t leave behind that equine friend! To take advantage of the seven miles of horse trails in the park, nab one of three sites at Rainbow Falls Horse Camp. Just don’t let them catch you playing horseshoes. You’d find it weird if horses were tossing your kicks around for entertainment, wouldn’t you?
The Rainbow Falls Group Campground is the only group campground in Rainbow Falls State Park. The campground sits near the Chehalis River shoreline, located beneath a canopy of impressive hemlock, cedar, and Douglas fir. Bring the tribe--Rainbow Falls can accommodate up to 14 camping units and 60 people!
