Skip the trip to Olympia (seriously) and head north a few miles to Millersylvania State Park. Equally as quirky as its urban relative, but a lot less moody, Millersylvania is 842 acres of majestic old-growth Cedar and Fir forest and sits on Deep Lake. We can smell the cedar now! Speaking of things that smell good, this park has four kitchen shelters each equipped with a wood stove, grill, sink and electrical outlets. Party in the USA anyone? Loads of hiking trails (8.6 miles to be exact) and mountain biking trails and are directly accessible from the campground and day-use area. If forest frolicing isn’t your thing, Deep Lake will be your prize in the park. Swimming, kayaking, floating, and a boat ramp plus dock make for easy water access but watch out! there’s a maximum speed of 5 mph.
