With origins reaching back to World War II, when Fort Ebey was built as a coastal defense fort, this State Park offers a mix of history and adventure. You can explore old concrete batteries where guns were once positioned in defense of a threatening foe, or go paragliding over the watery surrounding. Located on Whidbey Island in the Strait of Juan De Fuca, Fort Ebey features three miles of shoreline and excellent views of the Puget Sound. Along with hiking and biking trails, there’s a popular surfing spot on the saltwater shoreline for the more extreme park-goers. And for those in search of a more relaxing visit, Eagles can often be seen over at Lake Pondilla. Thousands of visitors camp here every year, so why not extend your stay and try a bit of everything?
