Looking for an ideal family getaway spot? With our unique location nestled in the foothills of Stewart Mt and the peaceful Squalicum Valley, Rusty Ranch offers 110 acres and easy access to much of our local recreation options and is only 10 min east of Bellingham. Our camp area is spacious and can can easily accomidate your family and even a couple of friends. Scattered trees offer shade, the large grassy areas provide ample space to roam.
Hike the several miles of nature trails on the hillside and explore our 65 acres of certified forest. Placards on the nature trail are part of our self-guided tour and provide information about forestry and the plants and animals that call this their home. You may also request a guided informational tour for your group.
Wander through the old growth groves, walk the 50' boardwalk and see the magical Fern Ridge. There are abundant wildflowers and seasonal berries to pick, as well as a variety of fall apples and pears in the old orchard available for self harvest. You can even purchase a tree to take home and plant. We also offer a roadside farm stand with fresh seasonal fruits and veggies as well as farm fresh eggs.
We are normally closed Monday through Wednesday except holidays. Sites may be made available by special request.

Location: This gorgeous piece of property is located on beautiful Fidalgo Island (Anacortes, Washington), less than one minute away from Deception Pass State Park. Yes, we are within walking distance of Deception Pass State Park and we border Pass Lake. This amazing Hipcamp is located on just under 17 gorgeous acres, with amazing water and forest views. This breathtaking location is extremely unique, because we are surrounded by Deception Pass State Park. Therefore, we are extremely fortunate to have the state park, so close to our Rosario Camp & RV location.
Wildlife: When it comes to wildlife, you will wake-up to the beautiful and rejuvenating melodies of a plethora of wild birds, chipmunks, squirrels, woodpeckers,, etc. During your stay, you will cross paths with deer and various other wild animals, in this very natural and pristine setting.
Vegetation: While enjoying your stay at Rosario Camp & RV, you’ll also enjoy a medley of flora, such as the Western Red Cedar, Douglas Fir, Pacific Madrone and many other native trees. In addition, you’ll be able to taste absolutely delicious in-season wild berries, view Pacific Bleeding hearts, vine maples and many more different types of vegetation, native to Northwestern Washington.
Many Fun Activities: In this location, you will have so many spots to enjoy various water sport activities , which include: Pass Lake (no motors), Bowman Bay, Lake Campbell, etc. At our beautiful Hipcamp location you’re, literally, in the middle of it all. If you’d like, you may choose to walk, bike, moped or drive across the street (Rosario Road), to Deception Pass State Park, to explore various views and go for absolutely amazing hikes. You may choose to go on long mountain bike rides, with breathtaking views of Deception Pass Bridge, Bowman Bay and more. Perhaps, you’ll choose to rent a paddle board, canoe, kayak, boat or simply bring your own. There is scuba diving and scuba diving classes available, in the area. How about going on a fly fishing adventure, for stocked cutthroat, rainbow and/or brown trout (15”-29”+), at beautiful Pass Lake. If you’re interested in yachting or fishing the “big water”that is also an option, in the area of Anacortes (A-Town). There are many different tours available, at and around Deception Pass State Park, on land and/or on one of our area lakes or in the big water. RV has toilet, NO SHOWER, all bedding, comfy beds, dishes, cooking and cleaning supplies. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, 1 gallon drinking water and instant oatmeal are supplied. corn hole, charcoal bbq (not during burn ban), picnic tables, small zip line, rope swing, tire swing, port a potty, and fire pit are all in the communal area. During burn bans a propane fire (not included) is allowed in the firepit communal area only. 4 people per spot with a 5.00 charge per night for each additional up to max 6 people per site. please go to extras for the charge pick a unit per person per night. 1 car per site 5.00 charge per car per night max 2. please pay thru the extras.

Located in Sequim, Washington, Red Hawk Stables is the closest Harvest Hosts location to Olympic National Park. This facility offers guided horseback trail riding at a variety of price points, as well as pony rides for younger children. They also have a petting zoo, complete with chickens, pigs, ducks, horses, rabbits, goats, and geese. They have two pet-friendly spaces for RVs under twenty-nine feet in length, and plenty of tent spots. Don’t miss this awesome location when going to or coming from Olympic!
August thru September is wild blackberry season, and the campground is surrounded by them. Feel free to pick them!
When you arrive, take the very first left (theres a metal welcome sign with a pink ribbon 🎀, not the driveway that says "no trespassing")
and follow the driveway between the two horse pastures, down and around to the lower grassy parking area where the pigs and goat pen are (sharp left to big barn).
Feel free to pet / feed produce scraps you may have to goats / pigs. You can bring treats such as carrots and apples for the horses too, but mind the teeth on all critters!
Some fences do have hot wire (electric fence) on the inside railing so please BE CAREFUL.

Overview
Deception Pass State Park has a little bit of everything Northwesterners hold dear: rugged saltwater shoreline, freshwater lakes, old growth forest, wildlife, and views stretching across Puget Sound. The park’s centerpiece is the Deception Pass bridge, which flies high above the cliffs and links the mainland with Whidbey Island. Campsites are scattered around the park, including a boat-in cabin and forested tent spots.

Tips for snagging a campsite
- You can reserve all of the park’s 172 tent sites, 134 partial-hookup sites, and five hiker/biker sites online.
- Deception Pass is a popular state park. Reservations should be made in advance, especially for summer weekends. All campsites can be reserved online, up to nine months in advance of the arrival date.
- The Ben Ure Cabin on Ben Ure Island is accessible only by kayak or rowboat, and guests must bring their own water.
When to go
Deception Pass State Park is open year-round. In the Coastal Northwest’s relatively mild climate, there’s never a bad time to visit. Summers, especially on weekends and holidays, are very busy here. But come in the shoulder season—in the spring or early summer, before July 4—or early fall, after Memorial Day, and you’re more likely to find seclusion. Weekdays are generally a better bet, too.
Know before you go
- You can rent kayaks and stand-up paddleboards at the Bowman Bay concession stand from April through September.
- Visitors will need to display a day-use or annual Discover Pass. The park has automated pay stations dispensing both, along with boat launch permits.
- The park has 1.2 miles of ADA hiking trails, in addition to three miles of bike trails, six miles of horse trails, and 38 miles of hiking trails.
