Riverfront Forested Campground

1 site ¡ Tent720 acres ¡ Ione, WA
After Matt’s career in lumber wholesaling and Susan’s in environmental activism, getting back to the land has meant planting thousands of trees, thinning and pruning to optimize stand health, and looking through life’s long lens with an awareness that we only care for a parcel a brief while then pass it on. In sharing our love of this place, in welcoming others to walk, play or to sit quietly in the forest, or at river shore, like a rising tide, we’re all lifted. Learn more about this land: A 30 acre riverfront forest with campsite, a fire pit and our welcome to wander alongside Pend Oreille River frontage. All enjoyed in solitude.  The 719 acre farm is operated by a community of elders who revere the out-of-doors, believing immersion in nature naturally, quietly teaches. It makes for better humans-being. Hipcamp dollars support natural means of improving soil health on the farm. Camper's choice of homemade cinnamon rolls or scones on the first morning, a 16x16' tent platform, Separette toilet, potable water, dock for fishing or foot dangling, warm-weather heated water for rinse-off (sort-of showering) and a canoe to enjoy. Controlled, man & fellow critter-friendly *pets are welcome.  *Please let host know in-advance of intention to bring a pet. We ask that no fireworks or firearms be brought or used onsite. Because wildfire risk is now at-hand, the fire pit, normally equipped with kindling and dry tinder (plus water to dowse) will go unused. Bring your binoculars and get your nature high. An acceptance of risk/hold-harmless waiver of liability will be provided all guests upon booking, returned at time of visitation (or prior).

Cabin in the woods

1 site ¡ Lodging6 acres ¡ Northport, WA
There was originally a camper parked here with a roof over it while the main house was built back in th 1970s. When the home was finished the camper was moved out and it was turned into the cabin. It originally had a wood stove but it was always to hot so we replaced it with an electric heater and at the same time remodeled the interior. It is very comfortable for two to three people as it only has the bunk beds. Additional bedding can be furnished when needed. Included in cabin is a frig, microwave, small closet and dining table with 4 chairs. And a cabinet with pots, pans and silverware for your convenience.Learn more about this land:Country cabin on the treeline at the base of O'tool mt. Across the street from Lk. Roosevelt. The best camping near Colville National Forest guide

Overview

About

Shaped by behemoth glaciers that carved out the land over 10,000 years ago, Colville National Forest is a gorgeous treasure spanning 1.1 million acres (props to President Theodore Roosevelt for saving it). The lands include a number of geographic features including the Kettle River, upper reach of the Columbia River and the Selkirk mountain range, which is considered to be at the foothills of the Rockies.

Residents (including several Native American tribes) and visitors enjoy camping, nearly 500 miles of hiking trails, mountain biking, lakes, rivers and some too legit to quit wildlife including grizzly bears, cougars, bald eagles and the last remaining herd of caribou in the US. That was almost starting to sound like an indie music festival lineup! Did we mention it’s an inspiring place? So much so that close to a million smackeroos was recently rewarded for continued restoration projects.
