Take a break from the city and connect with nature by staying at our magical farm property located on the very south end of Whidbey Island, WA (12 minutes from the Clinton ferry dock). You can enjoy such activities as swinging in one of the many hammocks, getting goldfish pedicures, feeding some of the sweet animals, singing with the parrot, doing goat yoga or goagility (don't bother Googling it because it doesn't exist anywhere else), picking fresh fruits and vegetables for dinner you can prepare in our outdoor cabana kitchen, eating s'mores at one of the many firepits, visiting the beautiful flower gardens or simply enjoying the peace and quiet. It is just me and an occasional worker operating the property so you may see us weeding, milking goats, feeding farm animals, or watering some of the many gardens. You are encouraged to participate in activities on the farm and children are welcome to do the same. We are 5 minutes from Bailey's Corner Store, Whidbey's best burger joint, which has great music various nights of the week, and Ogres Brewery which also has great entertainment and beer. Whidbey Island Christmas Tree Farm

4 sites ¡ RVs, Tents20 acres ¡ Freeland, WA
We are a 20 acre tree farm in the making on beautiful Whidbey Island. The property is rough graded with lots of areas to explore. No water. Tons of fire wood to glean. Close to town for supplies but quiet and crazy stars at night. We have cleared two of the cedar groves on the south side, and they are perfect campsites. The sites are 75'-100' apart, more private than a state park, but close enough that a bigger group would feel close. Portable Toilet is on site 100' from the Big Cedar site. May through October Cedar Hallow- Our original campsite, sports a hammock, a picnic table, a fire pit, & good area for 2 tents, probably 6 people. The site has huge cedar trees all around so it's filtered sunlight most of the day, & warm in the summer! Big Cedar- Our bigger site. Equipped with a fire pit, a picnic table, hammock, and space for 3-4 tents, probably 12 people comfortably. There is a dirt road that circles the property, it's great for walks and animal viewing but can get muddy in the rain so be prepared. Parking is a gravel lot directly across the little dirt road from the sites. Unload at the site then move to parking as to not block the road. Trucks with campers can pull tight to a site but don't pull into a site please, obey standard fallen tree limb boundaries. The great wide open forest to the south allows for nice nature calls bathroom walks, go deep. Thanks

Mother Earth's Pocket

8 sites ¡ RVs, Tents5 acres ¡ Stanwood, WA
Over 100 years ago, this property was logged of all of it's old growth conifers. Well, things have been growing here ever since. There are many old growth stumps dotted around the property; many acting as "nurse or Mother logs" to new growth. We have been here for 30 years & have select logged keeping the integrity of the property in tact. These trees know they are loved and honored. They are happy & it shows. You feel the vibe a soon as you drive up. Since then we have blazed trails & carved out campsites & campgrounds throughout. All of them resembling nature's little carved out "rooms." We have enjoyed this property for these past 33 years. We have shared it with family & friends time & time again. There is so much love & positive energy breathing within these boundaries. I have been very fortunate to have been able to share this place. Now, thanks to Hipcamp, I can share it with you & your family & friends. Let Mother Earth's Pocket host your next family camping trip. Looking forward to it. We'll leave the light on for y'all!!

Valhalla Tree Farm

6 sites ¡ Lodging, RVs, Tents100 acres ¡ Arlington, WA
When Earl and Laurine Ingebright found an ad in a local paper for sixty acres near Arlington, in 1958, they knew it would be a place for family fun, relaxation, and their own private forest. What they could not have anticipated was the sheer diversity of projects, parties, and fun that the family would pursue on the property over the coming generations. From forest stewardship and timber harvesting, to campsites and trail construction, to rock concerts and wine making. While they have since passed, these founders began something truly amazing; A tree farm that showcases the successful accomplishment of almost every objective a forest landowner could have. Timber production, wildlife, aesthetics, recreation, and forest resiliency. Valhalla embodies all these things with so little conflict as to look effortless.

Fern Gully

10 sites ¡ Tents15 acres ¡ Greenbank, WA
Hello all. We are taking a break for 2024. See you in 2025! We are bringing a lovely old horse farm back to life and have found some incredible places to camp. Come enjoy our 15 acres while lounging in the stargazing hammock circle or enjoy some privacy in the peaceful forest. We are always adding to our land and building a place to remember. Nestled in Greenbank Washington on Whidbey Island. This 15-acre farm is just starting out... it takes way more work then this city girl knew how to do. You can find seasonal fruit like Blackberries, Cherries, Apples, and Salmon Berries in abundance between July-September. Lots of wildlife roam our open fields and wooded surroundings. Bald Eagles, Red Tail Hawks, and Barn Swallows fly overhead while Quail and their little babies run around the property. We are visited by many deer and the occasional coyote (they are afraid of us, so you don't have to worry about them hanging around). We are a small family and a Grandma, so you may see us working the field, building a structure, or just laying in the stargazing hammock circle. We have no problem giving you space or you can come hang out, we love meeting new people and have tons of tips about Whidbey. (Like, the blueberry stand in Freeland, Mutiny Bay Blues, is DELICIOUS. We can let you know if the stand is open and where it is or you can find them on Instagram.) Fern Gully is 2 minutes from amazing sandwiches and cold Topo Chico (sparkling mineral water) or a bottle of wine at Greenbank Pantry. It’s a 6-minute drive to South Whidbey State Park, where you'll find great hiking along the coast. Just 5 minutes to Lagoon Point County Park where you can fish and watch for whales. The always awesome, Greenbank Farm is 4 minutes up WA-525, there you can find Whidbey Pies, food, wine, cheese, art, and great hiking trails with fantastic views of the Puget Sound, as well as a large off-leash dog park. Also, if you are looking for some, on-the-water fun check out Whidbey Island Boats and Boards at Wibb .us (i can't write out the entire website, so just omit the space) You can rent kayaks or paddleboards. I would like to mention this farm believes Black Lives Matter, magic is real and we are LGBTQ+ allies.

This beautiful land is a magical, cultivated ecosystem, a patchwork quilt of diverse gardens, flowing fields, and sacred woodlands all stitched together with the threads of creeks and paths. This is a place for connection, education, and sanctuary. There are many ways to connect and explore this land; wander through the rose, herb, and vegetable gardens, sit and meditate in the Weavers Grove, pick herbs and greens to add to your evening meal, or sit with your knitting and watch the sheep. Whether you come to escape or to connect, you will find it here. NOTE: This is a working farm we have animals, dirt, sticks, bugs, and poop, and lots of opportunities to "connect" with Nature. All of our amenities are shared spaces, designed to foster community. You will find good signs with clear communication here. All of our lodgings are off-grid with no electricity or running water. Water, electricity, and wifi are available in the kitchen, garden, cafe, and lounge areas. Please bring battery-operated lights, bedding, and a pillow, unless otherwise noted. We request that campers check in before 8 pm. More than a campground this is a destination, come for the weekend or stay for the week. We have camping, glamping, and cabins available throughout the summer months. We also offer tours of the animals and gardens. There is a shower house, bathhouse, summer kitchen, library, cafe, fiber studio, yarn shop, and lots of outdoor seating. Additionally, we have safe potable water, a portable toilet, and two charcoal/wood barbeques available for your use on the patio. Come, walk in the gardens, smell the roses, put your feet in the creek, then sit by the fire and watch the stars come out. Compass Rose Farms is the host and mother to many businesses and projects. Our gardens provide flowers, food, medicine, and the magic for weddings and celebrations. The Weavers Grove holds our spiritual center and sanctuary, a place to wander and connect to land and spirit. The Farm supports our flock of Icelandic sheep, Compass Rose Wool Mill, Hipcamp, and our many fledgling start-ups.

The best camping near Camano Island State Park guide

Overview

About

Driftwood-strewn beaches and a secluded coastline with views stretching across Puget Sound await at Camano Island State Park. While other state parks on the area’s more popular islands feel overrun, Camano Island is usually quiet. But the park doesn’t skimp on attractive features: visitors can take forested hikes, walk the beach and connect to nearby Cama Beach State Park, launch a kayak, or set crab pots. The park’s campsites are open to tent camping and RVs, and there are some set aside just for those arriving by foot, kayak, or bike.

Tips for snagging a campsite

  1. Camping is available at the state park from May through September.
  2. RV and tent campsites can be reserved in advance online. Because this is a less popular state park, the campground does not always book out very far in advance. It’s one of the best places to snag a last-minute reservation.
  3. Cabin rentals are open year-round with a two-night minimum, bookable online. Unlike the campground, the park’s five cabins are often booked very far in advance, even during the week.
  4. All reservations can be made nine months in advance at most.

When to go

The park is open year round, and is beautiful any time of year. The park is rarely crowded, though it can be on the busy side on summer weekends and holidays. The park’s trails and beaches are accessible any time of year, though visiting outside of summer will mean you share the area with few, if any, other people. If you’re interested in setting crab pots, check the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife website for season information and restrictions. The crabbing season generally runs July through September.

Know before you go

  1. The park holds interpretive programs on summer Saturdays.
  2. The largest nearby town is actually located off the island, in nearby Stanwood. Stock up here before heading to the park.
  3. Cabins can sleep up to five and have heat, electricity, a refrigerator, and a microwave. They also have a grill, picnic table, and covered porch. The cabin area has a shared bathhouse with showers and restrooms.
