Westmoreland State Park
Blend history and scenery at this glamorous state park.
Spend a few days at this Potomac River retreat and you may want to stay forever. Horsehead Cliffs provide visitors with panoramic views above the river. Fish on the pier underneath an elegant Victorian gazebo. Hunt for fossilized shark teeth along the 1.5 miles of shoreline.
Battle with water birds for the best fish. The Potomac and Rock Spring Pond have plenty of fish for everyone. Find catfish, bream, bass, and crappie in the pond. The park's boathouse can help with bait, supplies, and boat rental for the day.
Expect majestic birds, including bald eagles, ospreys, kingfishers, herons, terns, and gulls, to fish for their dinner, too. Have binoculars handy to see the birds up close.
