Kayaking on the pond! It actually goes down to a depth of about 30 feet in the middle. Super refreshing for an afternoon or morning dip.

Camping in Virginia will give you the chance to enjoy a wide variety of landscapes, from a 217-mile stretch of the Blue Ridge Parkway to Clarksville Lake, the largest in the state. The range in terrain found here makes it ideal for hikers and bikers alike, especially along the Creeper Trail. At nearly 35 miles long, this mostly mellow path will weave you along the Grayson Highlands State Park and Jefferson National Forest, all the way to the North Carolina border. Snow bunnies will love Virginia's eight sweeping mountain ranges, and beaches stretch along the western side of the state, giving you full access to the Chesapeake Bay and the ocean beyond it. So, dive in! The beach is just the beginning of what this beautiful state has to offer.

Panorama of the meadow. Road is maybe 1/4 mile back to the left, campsite is on the right, behind the big maple tree at the edge of the field.
Panorama of the site, still in development in this photo. Craig Creek is visible (and audible) to the left, site and meadow open up to the right.
Our 1830 log cabin home, a 3-minute walk from the campsite, though not visible.
A few steps from the campsite, looking back toward the road.
The campsite is just behind the large maple tree right-of-center.

Primitive Cabin with firering and picnic table
The porch is a GREAT place to enjoy a rain shower or even a thunderstorm! The Cabin is extremely sturdy and well built with double-wall construction, double-insulated windows, a metal-clad front door and a fabulous tin roof.
A view from inside the screened-in front porch. At 6 ft deep and 12 ft wide, the porch is plenty roomy enough to stretch out your legs and really relax.
Inside dining table. It's nice to have a sit-down dinner with your camping buddy at the end of the day. Notice the solar-powered LED light strip overhead? It's dimmable!
Two firm twin mattresses , wrapped in plastic and covered with a heavy tarp. They make for a very comfortable and sanitary foundation for your sleeping bags.
