One of the first things we noticed when we found this piece of land was an abundance of tiny blue & brown birds popping around everywhere, especially down by the creek. Superb Fairy Wrens. We thought they were so delightful we named our soon to be family farm after them, Maluridae. Maluridae is a holistic farm, we all have our part to play on the land in its’ restoration & regeneration. We are at the beginning of our farming journey, we have our momma cows & alpacas, our first plants have gone in for the food forest & clearing years of woody weeds along the riparian zone of the creek has begun. We have a few locals living with us, a platypus or 2 in the creek, wallabies, honey eaters, rosellas, wagtails, tiger snakes, blue tongues & even a giant hair I’ve named Harry who reminds me of Alice in Wonderland. Our goal is to regeneratively graze our cattle to sequester carbon & bring life & nutrients back to the soil, producing next level beef. Our alpacas will provide fibre for our family & for us to sell, but really they are the for the cuddles & incredible poop (for composting). Our food forest will provide for our family & the community, there will be an opportunity for people to visit & learn about what we’ve achieved along the way & takeaways from our mistakes. We anticipate 5 years to be fully functional & expect to be carbon neutral by then as well.

Pasture Nook
Top Hosts...Top Spot!!!
What a fantastic spot to set up for a few days! Rachel and Tom where one of the most hospitable hosts ever...from lending us a shifter to change the gas bottle, all the way to driving down two huge drums of water as we forgot to fill up before setting up. Could not reccomend them higher. The location is also great, in between beautiful Clunes and Daylesford, there is plenty to do over a few days. Also with Creswick not far away, shops are an easy access. The spot itself can get windy, but outside of that there is a beautiful creek to explore, we didnt see the platapus much to iur kids dissapointment. It is very private also, feels like you have the llace to yourself. Will be back again when in the area...no question about it.

Pasture Nook
Great spot for camping near Birch Creek, able to wade in the creek a little, and kids could ride their bikes down the hill in the paddock. A little exposed to wind and not many large trees for shade, but that will be very weather dependent. Alpacas and cows on the property were great for the kids to have a look at! Nice proximity to Daylesford and Creswick.

Pasture Nook
Lovely having the whole place to ourselves, very private & peaceful. Tom & Rachael were great hosts, even lending us a pot when we forgot ours! And leaving with a bag full of free Veggies was the icing on the cake :-) Would highly recommend for a peaceful family getaway.

Birch's Flat
Really enjoyed our stay on the farm in our van. Plenty of space and we had the paddock to ourselves. Thanks Rachel and Tom for allowing us to spend the long weekend at your farm.
