This means if you come from an urban setting, there is a high probability that you are not allowed to travel to VT at this time. Please google Vermont Covid Travel Map to find out if you are coming from a region that is allowed to travel to VT. Any county shown in Red is not permitted to travel to VT. Any area highlighted in yellow is allowed to travel to VT if you have a current negative COVID-19 test verification.  * you MUST pack everything you wish to use in and out.  We cannot take responsibility for removing anyones trash at this time. We would need to wait 3 days to handle any trash left behind, and our neighborhood bear would definitely get to the trash before us.  * There will be no water access from our house. We will set a water jug at the site prior to your arrival, but anything beyond the 5 gallons we provide you will be your own responsibility. The Hillside Camp: Setup your tent on a tent platform built into the hillside of our south western facing forrest in Southern Vermont. About a 5-minute walk into the site.  The tent platform is 8'x8' square, and set atop a large rock outcropping looking west.  There is a primitive fire pit made of stones. We can also provide firewood if needed for $15 per bundle. There is an unenclosed composting toilet on site.   We have a friendly dog that lives on property so we ask that you please don't bring your pet to our land. Our property has some great trails to walk or mountain bike.   Local activities: While there is no swimming hole on our property, there is a great spot at the intersection of RT. 30 and Depot Rd (5 minutes away). There are also plenty of swimming holes all along the rivers and streams of VT. If you use Google Maps, if you find a river with a lot of twists and turns, you are more than likely to find a good hole or two.  Please make sure you find a swimming hole that is public.  You may see folks swimming holes in back yards. You may see a bunch of folks swimming in these places, but they will have permission from the land owner to swim there.  Thank you, and we hope you enjoy your stay with us.

We loved staying here! A really cozy platform campsite + ring fire was exactly what we were looking for. It was tucked away and private, felt much more comfortable than overcrowded public park camp grounds. Infinite trees to stare at in all directions! Jeffrey also provided plenty of firewood. Thanks for the stay - we'll be back if we're in the area again!

A "Hoot" of a Stay
What a rad campsite in southern Vermont. Jeff and Fiona welcomed us to their property and we immediately headed to the site, which is secluded from view of any structures. Jeff had just hung some lovely solar-powered string lights near the tent platform, a nice added touch. The firewood we added on was stocked and we cooked dinner as the sun set, when we were joined by the hoots of a nearby great horned owl! Though we had to leave early in the morning, we'll certainly be back and recommend this stay to all friends and strangers :) thanks again, Jeff!

Highly recommend! Great and hospitable host! Both nights he offered for us to stay in the glamping tent (check it out!!) because we arrived in a rainstorm and it was freezing. We decided against it because we loved the platform site so much! Would definitely camp there again!

Hillside Camp
Private peaceful spot
Private site up the hill behind the homestead. Adorable little boy greeted us and pointed out his dad, Jeffrey, working on the bobcat. His mom quickly joined us and gave us a hatchet for making kindling out of the ample wood supply. Jeffrey came up a little later w a bag of newspaper to ensure we were able to get our fire going well. The 5 gal tote of water was super useful. The walk from the parking spot to the platform and fire pit was maybe two minutes. Car camping that felt way more special and secluded. We carried a cooler up, had backpack chairs to Help carry sleeping bags and pads. Two easy trips. We walked up the hill to a clearing to watch stars and meteors w binoculars once it got really dark and the clouds cleared. We had a really lovely summer night in the Vermont woods!
