Huntington Open Women's Land

10 sites ¡ Tents50 acres ¡ Huntington, VT
Eclipse weekend is coming! Come and see the eclipse from our beautiful location in rural Vermont! A total Solar Eclipse will be taking place on the afternoon of Monday, April 8th. Men are not allowed at HOWL (with the exception of trans men). Thanks! In April, we'll still be in winter camping mode. It will be early spring in Vermont, and a variety of weather is possible. We're likely to have snow, rain, and/or mud. It's also likely to be windy, and if that’s the case, it will feel colder than it is. Please plan accordingly, and know that the eclipse might not be visible (but it will get really dark in the middle of the afternoon!) . Bring warm clothes, layers, a raincoat or snow shell, and sturdy shoes/boots. Eclipse viewing glasses will be available free of charge at the check-in station. Recently, Vermont has experienced catastrophic flooding & wind storms, leaving many trees unstable and broken tree limbs stuck in the canopy overhead. All visitors to HOWL understand that activity is at their own risk and take responsibility for checking overhead canopy for unstable trees before walking underneath. Hammock campers especially need to be careful. HOWL is a non-profit land trust held in perpetuity for the full diversity of women, regardless of gender assigned at birth, and transgender, non-binary, and gender expansive individuals. We are an intentional community working to create an alternative to systemic oppression and patriarchy. We work collectively to preserve and steward the land, to provide space for community building, service, and skill-sharing, and to collaborate in projects and programming that reflect our shared values of intersectional feminism, compassion, respect, sustainability, and love of the earth.

The field is adjacent to the Blueberry Hill Inn and Outdoor and in the heart of the Green Mountain National Forest and Moosalamoo Recreation Area. Great sunsets! We offer access to outdoor showers with hot and cold running water and toilets in the nearby Outdoor Center. There is an internet connection near the buildings but not necessarily at your site. You can drive your car to the site. There is privacy between the sites though occasionally there are other tents in the open field. You can forage for wood for a small fire or you can request 'bundles' (a small cartful) to be available upon arrival. Wood from outside Vermont is not allowed. Access to many hiking/biking/running trails just outside your tent door. We are stewards of these trails and your camping fees help to support our work. Nearby swimming, kayaking, and canoeing are available too. We provide trail maps upon arrival and you can also view them online from our webpage at Blueberry Hill Inn. Blueberry picking on-site in August. Don't want to cook? Packed lunches are available. Check out our website at Blueberry Hill Inn for Pizza by the Pond nights.

Peaceful Country Haven

3 sites ¡ RVs, Tents72 acres ¡ New Haven, VT
Dan found this special place back in 1996. We didn’t move on site until 1999 and still haven’t build our dream home. The years were full of raising our four daughters on this beautiful property. The girls had horses, enjoyed snowmobiles, four wheeling, ice skating, kayaking, sliding parties, camping, picking wild berries and playing in the woods. We had a Christmas tree farm and enjoyed sharing the property and horses with our customers. We now enjoy all this with our two grandsons. It seems only right to share what we have been so blessed to enjoy all these years with others. Learn more about this land: Park your RV or pitch your tent and take some time to relax. Take a walk through the woods, take your kayak out on Otter Creek starting at the base of our driveway or relax with a campfire. Visit Blazer or ring the humongous bell, and check out the wildlife. Do you have a dog? Enjoy the freedom of letting it run and play in the small ponds in the woods. You are most likely to hear the train whistle a time or two. Wake up to beautiful sunrise to start your day off right!

Champlain Valley Alpacas and Beef is a family farm owned and operated by the Foshay family since 1998.  Our girls, Gracie and Olivia are grown now.   Gracie is married to Jaron and they live in Alabama. Olivia is a nurse and currently is living at home which is a huge blessing to Mom and Dad. Our herd of alpacas once was shown successfully in the Eastern States, now mostly range on the farm, having sweet cria (babies), growing magnificent fiber and effortlessly entertaining throngs of wedding guests! Our beef herd, comprised of Black and Red Angus, Hereford and Belted Galways has fluxuated as the market and hay supplies demand. We have a vineyard of Marquette grapes that are so delicious, that we have to race the birds for them in the fall. The best camping near Branbury State Park guide

Overview

About

Branbury State Park lies at the base of Mt. Moosalamoo. Sounds like something out of a Doctor Seuss book, doesn't it? So, basically it has to be awesome. In the lush forests surrounding the area you just might find something that looks like a Seuss creature too. Look in Lake Dunmore, which is the main attraction to Branbury. Once the home to a summer boy’s camp, the area is now open to more than just pre-teen youngsters. It’s a good thing too, because nothing beats cooling off in the lake on a sweltering afternoon.

Turn away from the beach and you’ll be faced with a number of adventurous options. Select hiking trails will take you to scenic vistas and waterfalls. Others will lead you into caves or up to mountain lakes. Bring a bike if you want, because the trails around here are well suited for peddling too. No option is a bad one, so take your pick or work through them one by one. No way is a wrong way around here.

Tips for snagging a campsite

  • Book well in advance to secure your ideal camping spot, as sites can fill up quickly during peak seasons.
  • Consider visiting during the weekdays for better availability and a quieter experience.
  • Keep an eye on cancellation policies and check back regularly for newly available sites.
  • Explore nearby camping options to maximize your chances of finding a great campsite.

When to go

The best time to visit Branbury State Park is during the summer months when the weather is warm and all park facilities are fully operational. Spring and fall offer cooler temperatures and fewer crowds, while winter may see some areas closed due to snow.

Know before you go

  • Check the park's operating schedule for current hours and any seasonal closures.
  • Review safety guidelines, especially if you plan to hike or engage in water activities.
  • Accessibility options are available; contact the park in advance for specific needs.
  • Day use fees apply, so bring cash or check for payment upon arrival.
  • Pets are welcome in designated day use areas, but ensure they are leashed and under control.
