The stark and eerie landscape of the spectacular Monument Valley is mesmerizing from any angle. Get the camera ready for the moment when the setting sun turns the gigantic rock formations a blazing red. Pitch your tent with the closest view of the looming, geologic monuments at Monument Valley Overlook, where rugged campsites let you truly get back to nature.

If you want to see the Monument Valley area from a different point of view, float down the San Juan River from your starting point at the Monticello Field Office. This region of Utah is filled with rocky, desert sights that leave you gasping in awe, so check out the campsites at Natural Bridges National Monument, and then hike or drive out to gaze at the stunning bridges. These natural formations are made from Permian Sandstone, and will impress even the most well-traveled campers. At the Canyon de Chelly National Monument, hike deep down into the canyon or take a guided tour into the back country, then return to your campsite where you can pitch a tent or hook up an RV for a night under the starry desert sky.
