Sand Creek Farm is an operational sustainable farm. We are centrally located to Bryan/College Station - Temple/Belton - Waco. Austin is about 1 hr and 45 min away. Within 30 min of the farm you will find Walker Honey in Rogers, TX for wine and mead tasting; 15 min to Calvert fine dining at Coco Modo's and lots of neat stores for shopping; and on the farm you will find .... quiet.
Camping can be done anywhere on our 170 acres as it suits you. The back of the farm is so quiet and peaceful, surrounded by nothing but 2,500 additional acres of nature - not a house in sight. On the back of the farm you are about a mile off of the road, there are gullies to explore, ponds, wild fruits at different times of the year, wildlife, varied terrain and foliage.
There are cottages on the farm for rent close to the dairy, $85 per night + a $35 cleaning fee per stay (that must be paid in person). The cottages are on a separated offering or email us for more information. Private tours of the farm are $50/hr/person. Milking the cows starts at 6:30 a.m. and finishes about 9:30 a.m. and is $55 per day to participate.
You will see that the farm is shaped like and "L", all creature comforts, like an outhouse and running water, are on the front 100 acres, the back is completely untouched by human amenities. So, plan to fill up your water jugs prior to heading off to the back of the farm. You may cook and use the bathroom on the back of the farm as long as you clean up after yourself and observe all state safety laws concerning fires. It is your responsibility to check if the county is in a burn ban or not and act responsibly.
Within 5 miles of the farm is an entrance to the Brazos river for fishing, swimming or canoeing. You are also welcome to bring a equine and ride, be sure it tethers or you bring a portable corral - the last 40 acres can be closed off so if your equine get's loose, you will only have 40 acres in which to chase it :)>. Please provide a coggins report for each equine from within the last 6 months and a copy of your vaccination schedule as given to each equine.
