Consistently drawn to the Big Bend area, after riding and traveling all over Texas I decided to make it my home and have never looked back. The property is on and surrounded by other large ranches between Alpine and Terlingua, allowing space and privacy. Learn more about this land: Open range is a thing of the past, yet the ranches here intertwine, and the view goes on forever. Undulating hills of desert shrubs, cactus and rock – like an ocean with its waves. Just over 30 miles from Alpine and within an hour from the Big Bend National Park entrance. At a higher elevation than Terlingua, temps are at least 10 degrees cooler here. Easy access to Alpine, Marathon, Marfa, Fort Davis and Terlingua. Great location for Viva Big Bend or touring the area. We have two campsites available. Site 1 can accommodate trailers and Site 2 with primitive tent camping (or car camping) - no trailers. Campsites are far enough apart to allow privacy. High desert camping, dark skies, views of Calamity Creek, Elephant Mountain, Santiago Mountains, Santiago Peak, Kokernot Mesa. 300 acres. No wifi currently or amenities other than pure peace, quiet and beautiful sunsets. Immerse yourself in the beauty and peacefulness of our high desert. 360 views! Campfire ability dependent on weather/wind. High clearance not always needed but recommended. Improvements ongoing. Pack it in, pack it out. Please dispose of all human waste. Leave no trace! No hunting allowed. Hiking roads is permitted, as well as on host property. Gates and sites are difficult to find after dark - please notify host if arriving after sunset. Specific/detailed directions will be sent upon booking. Owner lives nearby, out of sight. Yes - you may hear a donkey!

Loved the view of the nearby mountains. The only evidence I saw of any humans were some lights way off in the distance. I appreciated the level spot for my tent, the fire circle and the easy access back to TX 118 (and from there Alpine, Terlinga and BBNP). This was a good spot for solitude (exactly what I was looking for).

Spring Break Camping
Shannon was kind and extremely accommodating for our trip! We enjoyed our stay and the grounds. It was very secluded and could not be seen from the highway. The property was between Terilingua and Alpine, two really cute towns. It was about an 1.5 hour drive to get to Chisos Basin Visitor Center. The original plan was to bring horses, but with the spike in diesel prices, we decided to focus on hiking instead. The stalls were made of four cattle panels and a bit rocky, so that is something to factor in on your packing list. We hope to be able to return with the horses one day soon!

The MOST Incredible Views!!
My husband and I camped here in our rooftop tent the last week of December and it was the PERFECT jumping off point to start our week in Big Bend National Park. Site #2 was spacious and the views could not be beat. We timed our stay with a clear night and no moon so the stars put on a show. Absolutely breathtaking, we could not have asked for anything better. For roof top tent stays, the desert winds picked up which made our tent flap loudly in the middle of the night, but if you’re on the ground or in a camper it wouldn’t be a problem. It woke us up, but it wasn’t an issue. Just something to note. Shannon had excellent directions that we followed exactly and we found our site no problem. Definitely want to arrive before dark!! She came and visited with us the next morning before we packed up and was so kind!! We will be dreaming about this gorgeous land and starry night sky forever. We will definitely return!! It was a highlight of our whole week.
