We now offering guests who need a regular RV site and are only going to use a regular 20 amp outlet (30 or 50 amp hookups are regular price) a nightly rate of $15! If there are spots open, we will accommodate you! These sites have sewer hookups, fresh water connection and of course electricity! A community social gathering spot with a fire pit, picnic tables and cornhole are now available! Park has a doggy park and 15 acres of walking trails at the back of the property. We take last minute bookings and those that are on the road later than the rest! We are currently installing electricity, water and sewer to a structure we have on the property and will be offering Hipcampers a bathroom with shower, a small kitchen and coin operated laundry! Geared towards smaller rigs, we will have 5 spaces available beyond our regular RV sites. It's 2-21-2023, check back in a month! We can take overnight parking (just $5 per night and our rates when we get electric and the building done will still be low at $12 per night) just that there's no amenities beyond a water spigot, doggy park and a community fire pit. We have tent camping in the rear 15 acres of the property. Several sites available for individuals, families or even large groups. These sites are "walk in" campsites, meaning parking in a general parking area and carrying in your camping equipment. We have wagons available for that task. We do have one site that is very close to parking and if you have a pickup/4WD you can get close to the other sites. These sites are all on a slight grade. Fires allowed, plenty of wood to be picked up off the forest floor, we also sell firewood. $15 per night for individuals and families. These sites are in the forest. Verizon signal is decent even in the thick of the forest. Any questions? Feel free to call us! 903-452-5426 or email at: naturesdesignrvpark@gmail.com

The best camping near Martin Creek Lake State Park guide

Overview

About

This park is an angler's paradise, located on the shores of a 5,000-acre lake. Take your kit and try to land a massive bass, crappie, catfish, perch or sunfish.

There are also six miles of scenic trails for hiking, biking and generally staying active. If you're looking for a more chilled-out atmosphere, grab your binoculars and go bird-watching.

The park's official peak season is March through November, but especially spring and summer. However, October and November are the best time to see the park's colorful, fiery foliage. In winter, the park is kept busy by regular fishing tournaments and events.

There are many campsites to choose from, including premium sites with water and electricity hookups. Most sites have fire rings and picnic tables for a fun, friendly vibe.

There are also primitive sites that offer a natural, back-to-basics style of camping. In addition to the campsites, the park offers rustic cabins and screened shelters for hire.

Notable campgrounds

  • Water and electricity campsites offer convenience for both RVs and tents, with easy access to the lake.
  • Primitive island campsites provide a secluded retreat for those seeking a more rustic experience.
  • Screened shelters and cabins cater to visitors looking for a touch of comfort amid the wilderness.

Tips for snagging a campsite

  • Book early, especially if you're planning to visit during the busy spring and summer seasons.
  • Check the park's event calendar for fishing tournaments and avoid those dates for a quieter stay.
  • Consider weekday camping for better availability and a more tranquil experience.
  • Explore nearby camping options if the park reaches capacity or to discover new scenic spots.

When to go

The ideal time to visit Martin Creek Lake State Park is during the spring and summer when the park's full splendor is on display. However, the park's year-round warm waters make it a haven for anglers even in winter. Keep in mind that these peak seasons also mean higher visitor numbers, so plan accordingly.

Know before you go

  • Swimming safety is paramount; familiarize yourself with tips as there are no lifeguards on duty.
  • The park often reaches capacity; secure your spot by reserving passes online or by phone in advance.
  • Accessibility information is available for those with special needs to ensure an enjoyable visit.
  • Remember to pack your fishing gear, or borrow from the park, as no license is required for fishing within state parks.
  • Stay connected with park updates and share your adventures on social media using @martincreeklake.
