GET AWAY without going FAR AWAY! Feels like the middle of nowhere, but it's only 25 miles to downtown Austin and 15 miles to the charming little town of Bastrop with its eateries, shops and historic buildings. Spend quiet nights in the country listening to the coyotes howl and the owls hoot. Hike the nearby Roughs (trailhead is 2 miles away) or book a river canoe or kayak trip with one of the local outfitters. Bring the family and have a weekend event under the trees and covered shade of our Pony Pavilion! Hollis and her wonderful voice, great stories and powerful ukuleles now offer LIVE MUSIC by your very own campfire, for your private enjoyment. (See the EXTRAS category to book a $20/45 minute/weather-permitting show, or a 1-hour Ukulele lesson, or just get with Hollis when you show up at camp) Enjoy the park trails, the Happy Horse on-site Scavenger Hunt, the delightful maze of campground trails (on your bikes!) and the peace and quiet! Happy Horse Hotel is on 22 acres conveniently located between Austin and Bastrop in the Pope Bend of the Colorado River. LCRA's fabulous McKinney Roughs Nature Park is 2 miles up the road, adjacent to the Hyatt Lost Pines Resort. The camp area is 9 secluded, fenced and wooded acres laced with all-dirt flat biking and walking trails on our property. We encourage you to bring your bicycles along. The bird watching is great!

Happy Horse Bungalow

Hollis and Beaux were awesome hosts. Hollis showed us around the camp and both of them ensured we had everything we needed to ensure our trip was enjoyable. The kids loved the scavenger hunt, which kept them busy across multiple days.

Passing through but found a gem

Everything we expected and more. Very friendly and helpful. We paid the extra $20 for Hollis to come by and sing some campfire songs and teach my 17 year old some chords on the ukulele. They then did a couple of songs together. Made my son feel really special. Worth way more than $20. Hollis is very talented. Will definitely be back.

We really enjoyed happy horse holtel and all of it's amazing amenities. Clear and accurate description of site and services made for an easy choice. Not to mention how pet driendly it is. Our diggie Camel definitely enjoyed his time. We definitely plan on returning!

Site 8 - Happy Horse Camping, Cabin, and RV

A relaxing gem of a place!!!!

We adored spending the weekend in our Rv at Happy Horse Camping! The land is beautiful and very well kept, as are the facilities! The composting toilets, outdoor showers, outdoor sink, picnic tables, on-site Weber grills and all the other amenities are so lovely and appreciated! Hollis and Beaux are incredibly easy and friendly to communicate with and will take the best care of you! Our kids loved the scavenger hunt they provided on their land! The location is excellent and we spent Saturday at the nature park 5 minutes away doing some hiking. Beaux provided us with several maps of nearby recommendations and gave us advice on places to go. There is not one thing more we could have asked to improve our stay! This is such a lovely facility hosted by the loveliest people who are obviously passionate and skilled with that they do! I can’t recommend this camping facility more highly!! You will love it!

We had a wonderful time at Happy Horse! It was our second trip and the kids requested coming back here specifically! Hollis gave us a great show and Beaux was a thoughtful host. Great site and a great experience all around!
