Come stay at Bird Haus Farms! This is a great spot for a NYE firework show! We have a single RV site with spectacular views on several acres! The space is secluded from the rest of the property which offers 4 short term rentals. There may be other RVs near this site. *there is no longer a container pool at this site and as photos suggest there is a shipping container house being finished out near the site. Beautiful swimming hole a short walk away from the RV site-- waiver required to swim. Extra guests are $12 each to swim. Bird Haus Farms was established in 2019. We are central to the Texas Hill Country-- within minutes to San Antonio (30 min), New Braunfels (25 min), Boerne (25 min) and Fredericksburg (60 min). There is a Wal Mart and HEB Grocery just across the highway. 15 min to Guadalupe state park. We are also a 3 minute drive to Guadalupe Canoe Livery where you can rent tubes and kayaks on the river. We do have chickens and cows on the property and other guests with dogs-- please keep your pets on a leash. We also have 2 cats. We also have an electric fence so take caution. Electrical hookup available. 50 amp. Toilet and sink available in field below RV site (inside shipping container). Water hookup available. Sewage hookup available. We have a wide selection of native and migratory wildlife that calls this place home including white tail deer, wild turkeys, foxes, bobcats, jack rabbits, road runners, seasonal songbirds and butterflies. We are just minutes away from Blanco State Park and a short drive to Pedernales Falls or Guadalupe River State Park. Note due to an extreme drought in the greater area this year that the spring fed creek and local rivers are currently not flowing. Pray for rain.

Welcome to the Cibolo Gardens Nature Preserve! Just 22 miles from downtown San Antonio, not far off of US 281, our educational homestead is an excellent place to camp. We’ve transformed 45 acres of what was once an active rock quarry just 15 years ago, into a healthy, regenerative, green space as well as an event and training venue. Our venue is nestled in the middle of the rapidly growing suburban landscape around us in north San Antonio. We purchased the property five years ago from good friends who had already started the mission of revitalizing the land. Today, 39 of the acres are in “preservation” status, which means that we are letting the natural micro-ecosystems that have developed from what remained of the quarrying activities 15 years ago to develop on their own. We hope to always keep this acreage in that status for generations to enjoy. The remaining 6 acres is wooded, where we live, have gardens, farm animals and where we interface equitably with our environment. Feel free to simply relax in the shade of the persimmon and juniper trees. Or, to add some activity to your stay, hike the varying terrain on our 45 acres, hunt for fossils in the dry creek bed, break out your tree / plant id books, or watch the wildlife (even if it’s just the chickens).  Refresh by taking a dip in the above ground pool, or wash off in the outdoor cob shower.  [Please be advised that besides campers, we also host homesteading, wilderness survival and herbal medicine classes on our site.  So, you might have company, but you'll definitely have room for privacy. ]  If you want to explore more Hill Country, nearby attractions for outdoor fun include the Guadalupe River State Park (16mi), Guadalupe Canoe Livery where you can rent tubes and kayaks on the river (16 mi) or Natural Bridge Cavern (17mi).

No electric or water here. - When you camp with us you are welcome to explore and play on the entire property! We have 55 acres of trails and woods to explore! Please bring your bikes, trail shoes, or whatever helps you have fun in the wild! - Hammocks welcome! We have so many trees! All of our sites are hammock-friendly. - When you check-in, just text us, your host will help you find your campsite. - Some sites are drive-in where your vehicle can park right next to the fire. Others are walk-in and require a short hike of 100' or less from your parking space. You can indicate your preference during booking or at check-in. If you want to drive right into your site, Campsites 2, 6, & 12 are the sites you want. Some of our campsites are more secluded than the others and offer extreme privacy in the most beautiful settings we have to offer. If you're looking for a wilder campsite surrounded by huge old trees and all the peace the woods have to offer, just request Campsites 4, 5, 7, or 8. Each of these sites requires a walk of at least 50' from your vehicle to the fire ring. Site 13 is only for backpackers or people willing to hike about 500 yards to the campsite. There is no way to drive to it or even get close except on foot. But it is spectacular and beautiful! Only three sites can accommodate a smaller trailer or camper. Site 1, Site 2, and site 6. Please notify me in your booking if you intend to bring a camper and I can accommodate you. We practice leave-no-trace as much as possible. So please pack out anything you pack in. You are responsible for removing all trash. If any garbage is left behind you will be billed for the cleanup. Heads-up! We have a small farm on the property Dogs are always welcome and we LOVE our furry friends! For their safety and the safety of our livestock please keep them leashed while on property.

About

Considered one of the finest state parks in Texas, Guadalupe River State Park combines with Honey Creek State Natural Area to provide nearly 5,000 acres of preserved natural land. The Guadalupe River is a key attraction for visitors to wade, swim, kayak, and canoe. Check out the park’s 13 miles of hike and bike trails, or bring the kids to the hands-on Discovery Center. The park is home to 85 electric- or water-provided campsites, plus nine hike-in, primitive camp spots.

Notable campgrounds

  • Best for groups: Grab a set of reservations at Turkey Sink for plenty of space and full electric and water hookups.
  • Best for water lovers: Cedar Sage has several sites that are close to the Guadalupe River, with full electrical hookups. 
  • Best for adventurers: The walk-in, primitive sites at Wagon Ford are just a 100-yard hike in and yield amazing views from a terrace above the Guadalupe.

Tips for snagging a campsite

  1. Book your reservation in advance at the Texas State Parks reservation website. 
  2. Peak season weekend campsites get booked up to five months in advance, so try to reserve as early as possible. Weekday stays are generally your best bets if other sites are booked.

When to go

Camping is available year-round, but the park is most popular from March through November—summer is a great time to visit and cool off on the Guadalupe. If you time your stay just right in October or November, you might glimpse some spectacular leaf colors. If visiting on a Saturday, check out the ranger-led programs to access Honey Creek State Natural Area.

Know before you go

  • An on-site store sells firewood, gifts, and supplies. Fishing gear rentals are also available.
  • No license is required to fish from the river bank.
  • You can take your kayak or canoe down the Guadalupe as part of the five-mile Guadalupe River Paddling Trail.
  • Some trails are available for horseback riding, but horse camping is not available at this park.
