If you're looking for a very private camp to enjoy the stars and primitive backcountry experience, this might be it. Why drive all the way to Big Bend to be surrounded by people not nature? The property is twenty acres total; however. ten of it is for your privacy. Clothing is optional. The camp site is located down a steep hill, and 4x4 is totally needed. The steepest slope on the dirt road is 14%.
The dirt road is way too narrow for any RV's or any type of trailer. The road is marked with pink flagging. You will absolutely need a need a 4x4 vehicle to reach the campsite. Only drive on the marked road. Arrive before the sun goes down becasue it can be really difficult to find. At this primitive camp you will have ten acres of privacy to yourself. Still, you'll be only 1.7 miles from the Terlingua ghostown porch, music, and restaurants. It takes around 20 minutes to walk there. There is no water and the campsite is extremely primitive, just space to pitch a tent. This is a “leave no trace” campsite, and “pack it in, pack it out” is expected of all guests. Please know this is a primitive campsite, there are no restrooms or trash receptacles. Longspaugh Valley is not for everyone, just experienced campers who have true respect for nature. No telephone poles or light pollution between you and the Chisos mountains. If you find the place untidy please let me know, as I've had to clean up some trash in the past. Come set up your tent and and enjoy the view!
Leave no trace. You will have ten acres of privacy in a valley surrounded by mountains and no highway lights. All of the ghostown resturants are just a 1.7 mile walk away. Located 8 miles from entrance to national park and 12 miles from the state park!
