It's positive vibe attracts good people (including a lot of first time campers) and is more peaceful and relaxing than most state parks. It is next to a 950 acre wildlife park. The Texas Zoofari Park has 900 exotic animals, many can be seen from the road (or you can pay to drive through). This can make for some interesting wildlife noises while sitting around a campfire. While it adjoins the wildlife park on two sides, Texas Safari Camp is in no way affiliated with Texas Zoofari Park. This is an environmentally important property. This is part of the largest virgin, old-growth forest in Kaufman county. The only clearing has been done around the ponds. No hunting is allowed. It has never been in ag use and all of the native brush and cover has been left to benefit the wildlife. Imagine two ponds in the middle of a forest. Enjoy swimming and kayaking in the clear water front pond. Kayaks and paddleboards are available on request. Both ponds are stocked with bass, cat, crappie and bluegill. You can hike the jungle trail back to a peaceful, secluded seating and hammock area we call Heaven. There is plenty of room for camping around the front pond and four established communal fire pits. You can camp on the front berm for an elevated view of the property. The back pond has two camping areas with firepits. Deep in the jungle, it offers a higher degree of seclusion but it is farther from the parking areas and outhouses. There are no preassigned campsites- it is first come first serve. Camping is $22 per person per night. Kids 12 and under are $12.00 per kid per night. Day visits are $12 each for kids and adults, payable in cash upon arrival. Friendly, non barking and leashed dogs are allowed for free. Most people camp around the front pond but you can camp anywhere. Campfires are restricted to the existing fire rings. There is a rustic outhouse with a modern, ventilated composting toilet and sink and a hummingbird window touch of class. Water and electricity is available behind my home as well as an open air cold water shower. The hand crafted Hummingbird Treehouse has leaded glass windows, screened operable windows and a loft sleeping area with an operable porthole window. It overlooks the front pond and features a full size bed, lights and outdoor tables and chairs. Bring your own sleeping bags to enjoy this comfortable and classy alternative to tent camping. It rents for $80 per night for two people. No food, smoking or pets are allowed in the tree house. Texas Safari Camp Rules There are no specific site reservations so it’s first come, first served. Tent camping only- no vehicles allowed on the property. Off road wagons are provided for hauling your gear back to camp. Front pond camping areas are 30-100 yards from the two parking areas. Wagons must be returned to parking area after being unloaded. Careful, humane catch and release fishing only in the two ponds and only single, barbless hooks are allowed. There is some split firewood and you can gather and burn sticks off the ground. Bring your own firewood is case we are running low. No chainsaws, no cutting, carving or harvesting wood from trees. All garbage (including food scraps) must be packed out. No burning of garbage. Parents of non swimming children must provide a personal flotation device (PFD / life jacket) and personally supervise their swimming. No sun block or insect repellent can be used by swimmers. All forms of hunting, guns, bow and arrows, bb guns, slingshots and weapons of any kind are forbidden. No electronic music is allowed (without ear buds), acoustic music is allowed but there is a 10pm to 8am curfew for noise. Campers must be respectful of the property and other campers. Auto alarms must be disabled. Loud, vulgar and drunken behavior, fireworks, generators or anything that disrupts the peace and tranquility of the property is forbidden. Property has minimal cellular service.

10.5 acres with 4 camper/rv hook ups on the poperty and lots of off grid options. Heavily treed area. Road leads down to the pasture where there's room for camping next to the pond. We keep well landscaped. Our pond is fully stockedwith catfish, bass and brim. There is also a secluded boat ramp less than a mile from us that connects directly to cedar creek lake. We are also a short 5.4 miles away from the legendary Kemp Calaboose where Bonnie Parker, from the infamous Bonnie and Clyde, was jailed after robbing a local store in Mabank. The car got stuck in the mud while trying to flee, resulting in the theft of three cars and two mules before Bonnie and their accomplice were captured and jailed until Clyde broke them out!! The last 7 acres is a pathway heavily treed on both sides you may explore or ride 4 wheeler golf carts. We have a burn pit with seating that's being turned into a fire pit for bonfires and were happy to build a bonfire when requested! We are continuing to build on the property will soon add a shower and bathroom option not available yet. We do have a 1120 sq ft pavilion that's getting decorative touches now. It has tables/benches and several games. The pavilion itself is also available to rent for events if you're interested. We get wildlife from birds to frongs turtles and deer we do not promote or allow deer hunting on our property. Very beautiful flowers trees garden. Water feature in the making. The neighbors have livestock that visit the fence line daily. They also have fresh eggs for sale upon request. We have a seasonal garden that may be available depending on the time of years. We get lots of wildlife! A group of 12-15 deer visit daily we feedthem like pets, so we choose not to hunt them. We alsohave cranes, hawks, turtles, red billed ducks and several other type of wildlife , as our land backs up to a nature preserve. . We do warn about the occasional snakes, spiders and scorpions as we are in the country. We'll do all we can to accommodate wants and needs to make it the most memorable stay, all you have to do is ask!!!

Escaping the Big D couldn’t be easier—this idyllic lakeside retreat lies barely an hour’s drive from the city. Not only is Cedar Creek Reservoir one of Texas's largest lakes, but it’s one of Dallas’ prime vacation spots, dotted with lavish lakeside villas, fine dining restaurants, and country club golf courses. Bring your boat, kayak, or water skis to cruise the lake, cool off with a swim, or seek out a tranquil cove to fish for bass and catfish. Spring through fall is the most popular time for camping around the lake, when the lakeside RV parks can get busy, but many stay open year-round.

Dallas

The city sights are just an hour’s drive away, whether you want to catch a Dallas Cowboys game, visit the John F. Kennedy memorial, or get your culture fix in the Arts District. Urban campers have options in Dallas too. Lake Lavon and Lake Ray Hubbard have waterfront campgrounds, swimming beaches, and leafy parks right on the cusp of the city, while RV parks and cabins dot the shores of Lake Lewisville to the north.

East Dallas Lakes

North of Cedar Creek, lake lovers will find plenty of places to get on the water. Check into the lakefront campground at Lake Tawakoni State Park or head to one of the lake’s RV parks with easy access to the boat launches and fishing coves. Nearby, Lake Fork has several marinas and lakeside golf courses, while further north, Sulphur Springs is the gateway to Cooper Lake State Park on the shores of Jim Chapman Lake.
