The best beach camping in Texas.

Boasting the second-largest acreage in the U.S., there is plenty of room to roam in the Lone Star State.

The gorgeous, green/blue water of the Llano River is perfect for a quick dip to cool off, or in February, a refreshing way to start the day!
Amazing views from tent sites
Incredible views + canoe rental
The gravel bar across the river is perfect for lizard-laying after a dip.
Time slows down just a little bit here, for everyone. No watches, little cell service, and wifi available if you must.

Tiny home up the hill (to the right) - nestled by these gorgeous big trees.
Canoe rentals available - or you can bring your own watercraft and launch from the awesome ledge/ramp!
Dos Rios is super pet (off-leash) friendly.. which was a huge benefit to us!

From the steep limestone cliffs of Big Bend National Park, down to the rugged beauty of the Texas Plains, the Lone State State offers campers the unique experience of feeling like you’ve gone back in time to the Old West. Most camping in Texas can be found a short drive from major cities, making it easy to get out of town and escape the summer heat. Pack your kayak and fishing pole and head out to the well-stocked lakes of the Texas State Parks, where bass and catfish abound. Visit one of the five foundation bison herds that saved the animal from extinction at Caprock Canyons State Park. Whether you’re hiking along abandoned railroad tracks, paddling down the Colorado River, or just looking for a place to park the RV, you’ll be able to find the perfect outdoor camping experience in Texas.
Gorgeous views, and private hangout area - this place is perfect.

In Texas, more than 95 percent of land is privately owned. Time to go Hipcamping :)
View from the front porch of the TX Hill County is breathtaking!
The porch was cozy and full of places to get comfortable.
There were enough bunk beds for 16 in two of the rooms.
The other room had beds for 4.
We are told there are turtles in the lake. We also saw many birds and heard the donkeys while we watched the sun go down.

Our setup: sleeping bag and air mattress in the back of the car, plus a cooler as a makeshift table. There is also a picnic table on the other side of the campfire ring that makes a good spot for cooking and hanging out.
Hanging out at the site picnic table before heading south to Big Bend Ranch State Park.
You don't need a tent to camp! Make sure your vehicle can handle bumpy rides – the road to the campsite is definitely a primitive one.
