Tobie Creek Corner borders Flathead National Forest just at the corner of Tally Lake Road and Tobie Creek Road (NF-2924), roughly 0.8 miles from Farm to Market Road. This site is nice and quiet and remote, but still easily accessed from town. There is mountain biking and hiking access right off the property, including access to Tally Lake overlook trail and Stovepipe trails, and the Lake is under 8 miles from the site. We also have a local fishing spot nearby just up Tobie Creek Road - a small lake stocked with trout and pike. This is an RV site only, no tent camping unless you plan to bring a compost toilet bucket with you. There are no amenities on this site, and you must bring water and a toilet with you. Dry and split firewood can be purchased just at the bottom of the driveway at 365 Tally Lake Road. This campsite is just 15 minutes from downtown Whitefish, but pretty remote and quiet bordering national forest land. You’ll access the site from Tobie Creek Road (NF-2924), which forks off to the right from Tally Lake Campground Road at about 0.8 of a mile up the road from Farm to Market. If you have reached the mailbox of 365 Tally Lake Campground Road, you have gone too far. The entrance is located directly across from the address mailbox of 179 Tobie Creek Rd. Look for the Tobie Creek Corner sign and Private Property postings. The RV site is on loose gravel on a relatively flat driveway.
There is a basic fire ring on the north side of the site which can be used for fires unless local agencies have put out fire restrictions (typically in aug or sept). Plenty of trees to hang a hammock from, and a simple picnic table as well. If you walk up Tobie Creek Road you will find access to a fishing hole (you can see this in the aerial photo/map in the photos section), hiking, and biking trails that are accessible by National Forest land.
Tally Lake is just up the road. It’s the deepest lake in Montana and it’s remoteness means it’s still a fun, quiet, place to swim, fish, boat, or paddle.
You are camping on bear and mountain lion territory. Be prepared and responsible campers. Leave the site as decent or better than it was when you arrived please. No cutting any standing dead or live trees. No shooting firearms of any kind.
Please be aware that this is a remote area., and there is NO CELL RECEPTION at the site. Please plan accordingly and save your driving directions before you leave cell service. :)
