Blanco State Park
We aren’t talking about the invasive Nutria that are sometimes seen on the shores here. No, we’re talking about quality float time with your friends and family. This park’s proximity to Highway 281 and nearby Austin make this park the ideal summer getaway.
Rent a tube from the ranger station or bring your own kayak or canoe for a day on the water. Don’t forget to pack a lunch, there is a large grassy area that is perfect for a picnic. Kiddos will appreciate the shallow wading area while advanced swimmers can practice their cannonballs in the deep water beyond the dam.
As with all Texas state parks, you don’t need a license to fish here. Bring your rod and try your luck against bass, catfish, rainbow trout, and perch. There is even the tackle loaner program, where you can borrow fishing equipment for free!
