Expect stunning views of the Iron Mountain Range of the Great Smokey Mountains National Park and surrounding rolling farmland at Serenity Knoll Farm. Just 5 miles from historic downtown Jonesborough, we intensively farm nearly an acre of land on the slopes of our little knoll. Half the land - and 7 campsites - is in wooded cover overlooking a pond, which creates a natural habitat for many different species of birds, native plants, etc. The top of the hill, where camping is also available, is a large grassy lawn boasting a covered pavilion where dance events and weddings take place, and next to it, a commercial kitchen is being built to complement the event center with catered food, cooking classes and other workshops.
There are drinking water stations at the pavilion. We have 2 outdoor showers, one at the garden shed and one behind the pavilion, as well as 2 outdoor flush toilets behind the pavilion. We try to keep the toilets stocked with toilet paper, but you may want to bring your own just in case.
A few miles away, the Nolichucky River meanders between our farm and I-26, and it's only a short drive to some peaceful riverside hangouts.
The land has been under its current ownership for over a decade, and has seen quite an overhaul of improvements both aesthetic and practical with intention to cultivate a community-centric atmosphere (hence the dance pavilion). The owner started farming in earnest in February of 2015. The farm is located in a region rich with the history and tradition of Appalachia and the early settlers. Serenity Knoll is finishing up its first year of production, with new ground being broken for additional bed space and a greenhouse.
